[FOR NJ] Best Tesla Deals - Lease or Purchase

, ,

No idea what NYS offers in terms of incentives, however - I suspect that the state doesn’t budget funding like NJ does. Plenty of info about qualifications about the Federal qualifications via Google vs. my attempt to summarize them here.

Hi, I’m trying to get a similar Model 3 deal but I don’t seem to be getting an y of the rebates, any clue why ? I’m based in Middlesex County, NJ

Which rebates, the state or federal?

The federal one doesn’t exist in any tangible form in a Tesla lease. There’s just a vague statement that it’s “applied over the course of the lease.” Whatever tf that means.

Which makes more sense;

Model 3 RWD

Price: $35090

36 months/15,000 miles

DAS: $1477

$445/mo

OR

Model Y RWD w/ 20 in Wheels

Price: $43230

36 months/15,000 miles

DAS: $1542

$511/mo

Let me know your thoughts!

My preference: Model Y, unless there is a parking issue and smaller is more convenient.

Seems like a lot of miles. Are you sure you would drive an EV that much?

It’s for my wife. She drives 40 miles round trip for work plus site visits. Is $500/mo standard or on the low end for a Y lease?

Model 3 all the way.

Thanks for your response! Can you please expand on this?

We have a model 3 we got for my daughter in the household. So I thought we might as well go for the Y.

We leased my daughter’s M3 for $380/mo (36mo/10k). Similar terms today on the M3 results in $410/mo (unfortunately, we need 15k miles/yr so it bumps up to $445/mo).

By any chance have you driven a Mazda 5? It was based on the Mazda 3 compact.
It was a six seater with sliding doors that put the “mini” in minivan.

A Model Y is basically Tesla’s Mazda 5. It’s an enlarged and compromised 3. All the things that make a 3 good (low COG, quick steering, playful handling, etc etc) are all definitely compromised in the Y.

And there are so many better values in the Y space. Nissan Ariya and Io5 to name just two.

I had to look it up. I can’t even recall ever seeing the Mazda 5. In any case, I completely understand.

Thank you for your input! We’ll be going with the M3.

Is it makes sense to lease/purchase tesla today? I checked a lot of options and looks like it’s not the worst option

I have both M3 and MY, they serve two different purposes. M3 is a commuter and MY is a family car (max 2 adult and two kids in back). Definitely get the 15k mileage, you’ll be surprised how much more you drive when you don’t think about gas prices (and yes, I know supercharging is pricey, that why I charge at home overnight).
They should have some deals on MY soon, a new version is coming out soon.

Well that’s a low bar.

Why pick anything except one of the best options?

You can get really cheap EVs for a lot less and you can get luxury EVs for hardly any more than Tesla pricing.
