Exiting 2014 Accord Lease

Hi Leasehackr users/experts

I am in a 2014 Honda Accord LX lease 36 months/36k miles with nine months remaining. 0 down and $279 monthly.

About 30k miles on the car now. I am trying to find out how do I exit the lease early. Can I take one of Chevy lease deal with “lease conquest” promotion?

I am also trying to get a minivan sometime by end of 2016. Is there any minivan lease deal, which would take my accord, without charging me for getting out of the accord lease? 1st preference is honda odyssey for minivan.

I have just one car now, the accord lease, but sometime this year I would need 2 cars,…one sedan and one minivan. Waiting for the best way/best deals to exit the accord lease and get into another sedan lease and either lease/buy a minivan.

Thanks

Go to carmax find the value, compare against payoff. If it makes sense you can sell it. Accords are one of the best cars to hold value so you can even buy the car off and sell in private market. If you are looking to get another car with conquest promotion you need to get it before you get rid of the accord. Honda is running some crazy deals in SoCal, you might want to check with a dealer and see what he can do for you. I would go for an advertised special car in newspaper and then work a deal with a trade in on. If you hand pick a car then they jack up the numbers like crazy.

Thanks gluck.

I am interested in getting out of my accord lease. My current car value is less than kbb.com value. For carmax,…I need to make an appointment with them face2face to get my car value correct? Or is there a way to find my car value on their website at carmax.com?

I am located in New Jersey. For New Jersey,…do you know any good sedan lease deals, which do a “lease conquest” promotion so that I can swap my accord with the new sedan.

Thanks

So already know that your payoff is more than current value and you are going to take a hit. You don’t need to make any appointment for carmax, just walk in and get an appraisal. Just keep in mind that the appraisal is good for one week only. Also try appraising on virtual store fronts like Carvana, Shift, Vroom or beepi.com. Call them to see if they service your area and do that before you get a quote from carmax.
I am in a similar situation, I got my car appraised from dealer and beepi.com. Now I am going to carmax. I am also working on a new car deal at the same time. You can do something similar as well.

Yes, I’d get the car appraised through CarMax and Beepi.

If the payoff amount (residual value + remaining payments) is less than or equal to what CarMax or Beepi will pay for your car, then you’re good.

Thanks gluck and Michael. If carmax or beepi.com appraisal value is higher than the (residualValue+RemainingPayments),…then how simple/hard s it to sell the car to carmax? Is the paperwork to sell a leased car simple enough, that everything can be done in a day or two?

Carmax is right away, 1-2 hrs. Just make sure you take the car in when Honda finance is open so they can get the payoff etc.

Thanks gluck. Do you know when leasehackr releases April lease numbers? I saw a post mentioning they will be released last week.
