His part of the story has been quite a ride, but the UAW impact

In December, the UAW and federal prosecutors agreed to end the corruption probe into the union under a civil settlement that included an independent monitor overseeing the organization for six years.

Other requirements under the deal include the union conducting a memberwide vote to potentially reform its voting process and making certain repayments, including a $1.5 million payment to the Internal Revenue Service. The UAW has already paid back about $15 million to training centers for improper chargebacks uncovered by officials.

The article says how much was returned and how much was paid to IRS, but how much money did he wind up hiding away? Just try8ing to figure out dollars per month of prison sentence here.

This is one where there isn’t a total, just lists like

“At the 2015 conference, which was during his first year as UAW president, Williams stayed in Palm Springs for 37 days. Then he stayed 105 days in 2016, 121 days in 2017, and 71 days in 2018. Williams also invited guests, who stayed in their own villas. And the cost was substantial. For the 2017 conference, for example, the UAW paid $20,000, just for Williams’s accommodations.”

The memo by prosecutors also referenced other issues including the “lavish, million-dollar lakefront ‘Cabin’” at the UAW Walter and May Reuther Family Education Center at Black Lake in northern Michigan that was designed for Williams. The conference center is subsidized by interest from the union’s strike fund.
