Currently scanning for BMW ex courtesy vehicles and I’ve seen some with 14k miles available to lease. So my question to you all is this:
Is there a mileage # on a ex courtesy that makes you not want to pursue it? Possible because of how used it is, that you’ll need to buy tires, or that residual just gets knocked down the more miles it has.
If you look at the LH calculator you will see that there is a RV adjustment for loaner miles.
It’s 25-30 cpm depending on the model, and the discount you need to achieve compared to new would have to exceed that signficantly to make a loaner worthwhile.
I don’t know where the point of no return is, but the LH calculator for BMW has a field to enter loaner miles so you could run some what-ifs.
Miles are less of an issue if you can see the car in person.
i was looking at two loaner E450 wagons last month. One was a 2026 with 5000 miles and the other was a 2025 with 7500 miles.
In reality the 2025 was in immaculate condition. The 2026 had a big chunk of the trim missing by the windshield likely from a rock and the sunshade was very dirty. Car looked great on website and on paper but in person it wasn’t great.
I don’t know if dealers will put new tires before leasing it. But usually those need to be factored in too if the tires are almost reaching end of life with 14k miles.
Yep. With the calculator it’s wild it’s almost a 5% drop in RV. So discount off MSRP would have to balance that or drop more than to compensate. Which I feel like would be valid for a car with 14k miles. But dealership is pushing back and not willing to discount further.
At some point the discount you need exceeds what the dealer can toss into the deal and still have leasing the car to you be their least undesirable option.
