Tarriffs are the most horrible thing ever. Except when every other country imposes them on American products. Then it’s sound economic policy.
It’s also very interesting how the people who want to increase the corporate tax (which of course is passed to consumers) freak out about a tariff.
AI is awesome… everyone really does need to get on board or get left behind.
For the big companies I’m sure some of the layoffs are because of AI , some are natural attrition, and some are hedging against an economic downturn. Everyone is probably right and wrong to an extent .
I can say from a Small business perspective. AI has allowed me to lay off 2 of my tech support guys , and as we automate e-mail and ticket responses it’ll likely allow me to lay off another. From a customer support perspective I will just need some guys to answer the phone for those super tough problems and for those people who really hate talking to an AI agent even though they are better than the humans I hire at this point lol.
Its going to impact the lower end work workforce , and likely outsourced call centers first.
So the issue actually is losing redundant jobs then?
The issue is an elimination of the middle class.
Bro, nobody was talking about the bogus AI citations in the pleadings (not the “opening statements” and “closing arguments”). Your reading comprehension is about as good as the quality of those AI cites in those briefs.
Funny that you get how AI is a good tool but don’t think people like EVs as a vehicle.
Yep, can confirm this as well at my hospital too. Altho, I’m sorry but i really do need a recession and an AI bubble burst to buy a house in the Bay Area haha
Think fundamentally for a lot of unskilled people their human labor is their main ability to generate value/money, which is true for both physical stuff and also white collar entry level worker stuff. So when you can automate this or have drones/humanoid robots do it , I’m not really sure what average to below average skilled people will really do. Think it’s overall very dystopian and will overall concentrate wealth, contribute to inequality
Plumbers, Electricians, etc will be great career and can start with no debt.
My wife is also a gasdoc!
Damn, this convo is taking sideturns more often than Formula-1 in Monaco
Yes agree and I would not call these unskilled labor

At least it is more exciting than the Monaco parade on rails…
I don’t think people don’t like EVs. I know they don’t. How? Because few people buy them. That’s kinda how it works. It’s a niche product for upper middle class people on the coasts who like cool gadgets. For normal people, they’re a joke.

The Venn diagram of upper middle class people on the coasts who like cool gadgets and people who have solar is a perfect circle.
When Solid State batteries become mainstream that will change…
…probably
Is anyone truly surprised? I got two one-pay EV leases in September/October just because the deals were so good and it allows for potential flip. EVs are killing the automakers profits, causing gas powered vehicles price to increase to offset. Automotive market needs a reset.
