EV Sales Down As Much as 80% post $7500 Tax Credit

Even the Canucks are throwing in the towel.

I am currently in Italy for Lasik. Here I spent $1,800 for BOTH eyes, where in the US I was quoted $4,700 for both eyes. And this place is not a mom-and-pop dingy garage, it’s a reputable healthcare facility in beautiful Tuscany. When I was there for the surgery, there were at least another 20 people scheduled that day, it was crazy. If you add $500 for r/t flight with Norse from JFK, and $300 for b&b stay, $400 in meals (yep, with $60 in Italy you can feed a family of 4 at dinner), and $500 for incidentals, I spent $3,500 for vacay + delicious food + surgery, much less than what I would have spent in the US just to cover the cost of surgery!!

Dude that flight back home in a pressurized tube with your eyes all messed up is going to be hell. Unless you’re an Italian posting on LH. At which point, please show us your €99 monthly Tonale.

Yes, flying might be a concern for some, but not because of cabin pressure, the surgeon explained to me, but because the air in the cabin is really dry, and you need to keep your eyes moisturized at all time. I had friends in Italy, so I was able to extend my trip by a week or so, to play it safe (surgeon said that flying 2 weeks after surgery it’s not a concern anymore), but technically you can fly back after 3-4 days, if you keep using the eye drops that they give you, during your flight. And yes, one of my friends has a Giulia, and it’s a gorgeous car. I’ll ask him how much his lease is, haha.

Btw AI confirmed what my surgeon said:

Flying after LASIK is generally safe because cabin pressure changes don’t harm the eye, but the dryness in airplanes is the main issue, making frequent use of lubricating eye drops essential for comfort and healing. Most doctors advise waiting 24 hours to a few days, ideally until after your first post-op check-up, to ensure proper healing and get clearance, and always use preservative-free drops, sunglasses, and avoid touching your eyes.

You got an airbnb for a week for a family of 4 for $300? This is the real headline.

He said Bed n breakfast plus it Italy, not here in the US. Pretty doable outside the US. I have paid $120 for a 3 night stay at a 4-star in Doha. And believe me, the 4 stars there are better than the 5 stars here in the US.

Oh B&B not AirBNB. Heh. My bad.

Did a quick search and yeah looks like if you go off season you can do it really cheap. But you’re not getting 4 starts for $40 a night

Definitely a cool experience, but with those that do not have friends in italy, the cost ends up being close if not cheaper in the US, and you can just go home and recuperate lol

Yeah the idea of being somewhere “on vacation” after surgery doesn’t sound all that appealing to me. I’ll kick in the extra grand and do it at home.

A number of these centers will provide after care included in your package price.

BTW, where is “home” for you? You never responded to where we can all set up our LLC to get our $80ish yearly registration.

Assuming it is not a “coastal elite” state as you termed them, but still odd that you never responded.

Yep.

It was for 4 nights, in Poggibonsi, Tuscany. Little town in the hills outside of Siena, no tourist traps there. I paid 65 euros/night.

Recovery after lasik was pretty quick, 3 days and I was ready to climb on top of the Colosseum :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: but I get it, to each its own.

Let’s say 10 days at 60/night = 600. Surgery = 2000. Flight = 500. Food for 1 person = 600. Incidentals = 1000. Total = 4700. But you enjoyed italy for 10 days. Unless Olive Garden is your ideal italian food

Maybe a Lake Erie coastal elite if his registration is that low
