EV: Out-of-State Resident Lease Eligibility... AND Stacking

With all of the historic EV incentives and rebates, I am wondering which Manufacturers (and States), that have good deals on EV’s, are easier to make out-of-state deals happen? I’ve been looking at the E-Tron GT and Niro EV, and seeing some very promising possibilities out there. Should I just not look at other area’s deals?

I’m based out of Boston, MA.

Also, on a separate note, how many of you have had success stacking KIA, Hyundai, and/or Audi incentives? For instance, is it even possible to stack [Audi] AFS Lease Cash, Customer Credit, and/or Innovator Program (or any combination of the 3… or more that Audi has)?

MA is the worst state to deal with your DMV is awful

Several years back, I had a hack! I managed a direct phone number to someone in their main customer service, at the call center HQ. It was BEAUTIFUL!!! She could do ANYTHING because she was a supervisor… AND… instead of waiting on hold for 2-3 hours… it always took 5-15 minutes. Unfortunately, that person retired… and the number changed :weary:

Some states/markets are easier to make deals happen, but just keep in mind that you still have MA taxes – you don’t pay (or get to pay) the taxes for where you buy/lease the car (e.g., If you lease in a state with EV state incentives or a lower lease tax rate, you don’t get those incentives/lower rate-- you still pay for MA). Also might be a bit of a pain in MA – To my knowledge, MA residents are not allowed to operate cars with temp tags from other states, which makes it a bit more cumbersome to buy out of state versus other states.

Rebates usually follow the location of the dealer and can vary by region. Stacking is dependent on the specific rebate’s terms & conditions.

Everyone says this, but now that I have a system in place and the process is understood, my dealers can do MA tags in about a week from start to finish, hard tags in hand. It’s a “different” process, but if you use the right runner service, it’s easy.

Exactly. I do a ton of out of state deals as a MA resident and there’s a fantastic local runner service (Iyman registry service) who takes care of everything. @Bostoncarconcierge can also get you fantastic instate deals as well if you don’t want the additional hassle.

I can confidently say that I should be able to get you the best discount on an E Tron GT nationwide and do it right here in MA.

I’m 14% off before rebates w a slight rate bump and small $600 ceramic coating product

Stay out of CA and TX, they don’t like Out of state Leases.

I am also in MA. I leased an Ioniq 5 back in March and since the car’s MSRP was less than $55k, I was able to stack the $3500 MOR-EV rebate on top of the $10k in lease cash from Hyundai at the time. I did a 3 year lease, btw.

Most MA dealers provide the state rebate at the point of sale, so I didn’t have to submit it on my own.

As already mentioned, if you are looking to lease an Audi reach out to Mike @Bostoncarconcierge.

Some incentives stack and some don’t, per the rules of the lessor.

Are you looking to get two cars, one in the Etron GT segment and one in the Niro segment?

I was surprised on my latest hunt and deals for the Bz4x how many dealers didn’t offer the point of sale, or they’re set up to but choose not to because it takes a while for them to get reimbursed.

Process to file for your own isn’t that hard though, and there are many EVs over 55k that lease well that don’t qualify.

A week…

If someone from NJ wants a car they can have it in an hour!

This is what they have to accept as MA buyers if they want to buy out of state. They can blame their state and probably the dealer lobby in MA for temp tags being illegal there.

You can drive with temp tags in MA… they just don’t have a MA temp tag. They offered one during the pandemic, but I’m pretty sure it’s gone again.

I DM’d you! Hope to hear from you soon!
