Do Germans not know how to make electric cars? Are they only good in mechanical engineering but fail in electrical and electronics engineering?
I dropped $150k cash on a Taycan 4s you can read my issues above.The Taycan forums are riddled with serious issues along with the GT forums. I actually had a driveline failure in an intersection among many other issues. So have many many others. So many happened It caused an NHTSA investigation.
A Porsche whistleblower came forward and said there was extreme fire risk at the time and a high battery failure rates. Supposedly at one point Tesla offered help on Porsches VW batteries and they refused out of arrogance. When a serious issue is encountered the car is not like a Tesla it cannot handle consistent OTA updates flawlessly and needs to sit at the dealer for days sometimes weeks to reload software with a lame USB style cable. I was hoping this improved.
I posted here because current Etron GT deals are very compelling and to find out of 2023 E trons have improved.The car also drove incredibly well when working and was gorgeous. The running gear on the car driving dynamics are incredible but the software controlling it all are absolutely horrible. This is where Tesla has the advantage along with the charging network. Porsche is using too many legacy companies for parts and separate software integrations like Bosch etc rather than doing it all themselves causing software conflicts. Tesla is basically a software company Porsche/Audi is not.
In my opinion I would avoid a 2022 as a lot of these vehicles in their carfax history have early services at say 1500 miles which is indicative of electrical problems like I experienced and dealer trouble shooting.

Does anyone have insurance company or insurance broker recommendations for these EVs?
I’m in the process of signing a 2023 E-tron GT (12m/7,500 mi)and registering in Florida, but running into ridiculous premium cost estimates with a clean driving record. Few companies simply won’t insure because the car is on the expensive end of their coverage range (Costco Connect and Amica). The process has been extremely challenging so would appreciate any tips!

I had ordered a GTS ST in November 2021, and in the meantime had a model 3 and a Rivian. Then a great spec CT4 came up at msrp, sold the Tesla over msrp and jumped into the CT4 for about 8 months until after 22 months my GTS ST arrived.
The only fault I’ve had with the car was the loading screen once Wouldn’t come up after starting the car, but a two finger reset fixed that.
Only have put about 9000 miles on the cars, so I’m not a reliable gage of reliability, but both of them have been flawless for me.
No wait I lied, my CT4 was at the dealer for 2 days with a heater failure, but was fixed up quick. So fast I forgot about it.

Thanks for the info sounds like overall the Taycans are getting pretty solid.Will have to see if the RS etron gt rebates come back this month and look into picking one up.
I’m transitioning from BMW/iDrive, and I think Audi’s MMI implementation in the ET ron GT is absolutely awful in comparison. This is my first Audi, so maybe they’re all this bad.
One month in and I’m still fruitlessly stabbing around to find fairly basic things like tire pressure. I blew through a stop sign last weekend while I was distracted trying to find something I only thought would take a couple of seconds.
I also absolutely hate that the fact that the car automatically hands control of the info screen to CarPlay when I start the car. Maybe there’s a setting.
And maybe there’s another way, but the only way I’ve found to access or cycle through my favorite/saved SiriusXM channels is to set what’s essentially a “favorite channel” filter.
Then if I want to listen to a channel that isn’t saved, I have to go back in and remove the filter.
In my M550 each favorite channel had a discreet button and the rest of the XM lineup was easy to browse. I miss not having to write and execute SQL queries while I’m driving.
