I’m saying that I bought into an area with an HOA specifically so there is a minimum visual standard that’s enforced, and I don’t want the neighborhood to look like a service station or a salvage yard, because that’s not what I bought into.

Other examples:

Our neighborhood prohibits garage doors from being open unless a car is entering or leaving. Someone’s hoarding issues shouldn’t be an obstacle to a homeowner who needs to sell their home.

Garage sales are prohibited except for one community-wide date per year. Some people don’t want to live next to a permanent flea market.

Also, for reasons that are reasonable to some, you cannot use aluminum foil as window covering.

If rules like these are too onerous, there are plenty of homes without an HOA.

For science sake, charged my Sierra EV on a EA station with older chargers (stalls with 2 cables).

Used my Genesis free plan and the session doesn’t even show in my app nor my CC was charged.

My free 2 years EA from Benz should expire anytime now, How to check the status or the last date of it? Thanks.

It should be 2 years from when you activated it if you recall the date. Oddly I had received an email late last year mine was ending soon but it’s still free into this year.

Actually it’s 2 years from when the car was first put in service. Key to know if you have a former loaner. I got my current EQS in Feb 2025 but the EA is set to expire in April 2026 since that’s when it was first put in service. Same story for the EQS I had before this one. You can call the EQ phone line and they’ll let you know.

That means that somebody else had activated it before you. It does start based on the activation date. For those trying to milk it on the last day, mind the difference in time zones as some of their servers seem to be based in Asia and they can be hours ahead of us. Ask me how I know!

Any chance you how to delete the EA connection link to Mercedes account/car? It looks like it’s managed through ChargePoint by MB but no one at either company seems to know how to do it. Trying to delete before I turn in my car so next owner doesn’t end up charging on my account.

Don’t have an easy answer for you but I would try a few of those things:

1 - delete your credit card from CP app unless you need to use it for another car.

2 - delete your whole account under my profile in CP app. Re-sign up with another email if need be.

3 - TLDR: contact your local Mercedes dealer and talk to the person in charge of tech support (thing along the lines of BMW genius, don’t know what Mercedes calls them) and ask them to reach out to their tech support within Mercedes. Someone there needs to delete your VIN from public charging account on their end.

This is what worked for me but my problem was exact opposite: I could not sign up for CP or any public charging on my second EQS as for some reason the VIN from the first car was stuck and nobody could figure out how to get rid of it. Literally went in circles for 9-10 months between CP, Mercedes corporate, tech support in both US and Germany, EQ Premier support, etc etc until my dealer reached out to their support and some kid called me and knew the answer within seconds! Yes, it was that absurd!!! Fortunately I still had about 9 months left from the first lemon EQS that I was able to use and that’s how long it took them to figure out that VIN issue. I got an email confirming full 2 years of EA when it was cleared.

Thanks. I’ve been having issues with CP, can’t delete my credit card unless I replace it with a new one or even delete my CP account (escalated to higher level tech support at the moment). I’ll reach out to the dealer techie.

Believe that means it wasn’t able to identify your car and there was a miscommunication so it defaulted to free juice. Kinda silly I still have a free plan for over a year left but no longer have the car so it’s wasting away. Would need to basically buy an 2024 or older Ioniq 5 or some other model that doesn’t transmit the PCID to make use of it. If anyone is interested in buying my free plan I’m happy to sell it.

I have activated it in 2024 March but dealer messed up some paper work and had to redo it from April 2024. So my free EA charging will be activated until April 2026 ?

That doesn’t make a lot of sense… when I used my Genesis plan with my Aryia (which didn’t communicate PCID), at least the charging session would show up in my history. That particular session is nowhere to be found.

Sometimes this happens when the station is unable to connect upstream and/or is having other billing reporting related issues. The plugs will default to free mode, instead of locking out all users. There are some discord servers that track plugs in this state, some people will drive out of their way to find them.

Had no idea about this. Thanks for the clarification.

Just when you thought getting Bolted was bad enough, here’s an I3 at EA. Also the screen behind i5 on the left is all black but still charging by Braille.

First time has an issue with charging speed at EA. Only getting 30kw, switched to the one next to me and back up to 174kw.

Expired free charging, 85% limit, and TOU pricing has really helped with wait times for me.

When the liquid cooling system fails in the EA charging cables, they automatically downrate to around 30kW. This is more rare than it was 2 years ago. The EA chargers are much better maintained nowadays.
