Electrify America - Experiences and Discussion

Yup :+1: just don’t bother on the rest stops chargers-they’re all inoperable , I was gonna just test them out but both ways they were missing the plastic clip and the way back the prongs were just hanging by the wires haha douchebags all over the place

SRRA/Caltrans chargers seemed to work fine the last time I really checked them out about 3 years ago. They’re just slow and outdated AF.

The newer rest stop (Clyde V Kane) was closed for repairs, both ways, so couldn’t test, but the other one both sides were damaged… Like we discussed before-was never able to charge my Tesla Y with the adapter-it simply didn’t work for me… next trip I’m taking the 2025 Y Performance and see if any luck with that one!

When I picked up my Mini SE, I try to avoid EA since I’m not using free account and don’t want to get bolted or niroed. The evgo in Lorton & buccees benz chargepoint are painless & no wait. The EA in abingdon MD is pretty good too since it has 8 stalls otherwise I’ll pick another location.

Tesla in Hawaii is charging now congestion fees if above 80% SOC :call_me_hand: these are the only two chargers that have this fee as they are close to the airport and get busy all the time

That’s understandable on the islands but untenable out on the open road.

Roads? Where we’re going we don’t need roads!

I had a chat with the technician while he was working on the station. I asked him why so many issues with the stations and he said it’s difficult for firmware to keep up with dozens of manufacturers’s changes in their vehicle’s softwares .

My GV60’s lease is maturing on June and I’m planning to extend it for a few months.

Do you know if I need to take any action to keep my EA free charging valid past the original maturity date? I’d assume EA has no idea about my lease terms, but better safe than sorry…

Does your free charging go for ā€œthe term of the leaseā€ or ā€œtwo yearsā€?

Hasn’t occured to me to check mine, maybe I should.

Mine just says ā€œ3 years from date of purchaseā€.

Thanks for sharing. Can you share what car you took the trip?

Did you take I-5 and I-80? Where did you find working EA chargers? What about Lake Tahoe area?

Guessing 99 or 395 from where he lives?

yes i-5 then i-80 and 99 on the way back. In North Lake, EA chargers are in Truckee by Save-Mart, four chargers. There is also another one shows in South Lake by the casinos but didnt need to use that one.

Why not 395? Much more interesting and beautiful drive.

EV charging? Maybe not so much!

Stayed in SF and visited a friend on the way out. Also our main destination was North Tahoe.

That Sir, does check out.

Best movie ever. Maybe deep down I am missing my childhood but I have not enjoyed any other series more than Back to the Future.
