Electrify America - Experiences and Discussion

We have had 2 EVs with free charging. Both electrify america. I’m from norcal and personally the experience has been great. About a year for both

Mercedes turned out to be a lemon so i just recently got a lyriq from socal but holy hell south of Bakersfield was hell,

Went to 7 chargers. Either EVGO or EA. All had at least 1 broken or vandalized. or they had 3-4 cars waiting.

Max number I’ve seen up north has been 2.

Make it $.64 at most LA EA stations

6-8 is about normal for most EAs in San Fernando Valley, 10 isn’t unusual…

While dumb Bolt/Niro drivers milk it at that insane price ^^^ getting L2 speeds while there’s a bank of ChargePoint chargers at Costco one block away that cost $.28/kWh.

Yeah exactly!! it cost more in LA. Free charging wasn’t set up yet :sob:

That’s insane to me how that’s normal. Is it any different during odd hours?

Yeah, 4 am midweek, lol.

I’ve seen 64c all over West Texas and NM as well.

Insanity, not much more to say.

That’s wild. I thought california would have the worst of it.

Do you mean El Paso when you say west texas?

Jokes aside, I actually posted a screenshot from the EA app (way up on this thread, probably about a year ago, before it’s gotten to the current disaster levels): I think it was about 1:30 am on a Monday morning and there were NO open EA chargers anywhere in LA! All were either broken or in use.

Ironically even as far east as Eastland.

FWIW the Tesla superchargers west of Fort Worth are at $0.33/kwh membership price. I’m assuming you charge for free anyway.

If it’s for free, it’s for me!

It only takes one Canadian to screw it all up.

At least you can smoke at an EA station without worrying about a fuel stop going off like a bomb. #jeMeSouviens

Is the charger directly in front of them not working?

Went to a new EA location right next to a bunch of Superchargers at 7am. There was 1 Tesla. At the EA chargers, 5 of 6 being used.

It’s mostly the free charging causing the congestion because it was Ioniqs and BMWs.

Once everyone has NACS access… public charging will be a better experience.

It’s so confusing with that Quebec license plate and that rear window decal.

I think Kia is trolling Electrify America.

Like they sent a few thousand slow charging Niros over to sit at the stations until the hot death of the universe.

Two were here when I arrived. While waiting, a 3rd showed up. All out of state.
