In my experience once you sign the paperwork the dealerships generally stop giving much of a
as the sale is over and they’re on to the next guy.
Yes or Affirmative would have worked too.
Quite a few posts here to the contrary, and on brand specific message boards. Not always, not even often, but they can be an advocate for the customer with actual leverage.
There are exceptions to everything. I def don’t think it’s the norm. Dealerships are generally useless
don’t make me laugh. one only needs to have a passing experience with getting screwed over on a warranty claim to be able to read this for the absolute horse&*^% statement it really is:
if anyone actually believes this i have some land in the everglades to sell you.
We all have horror stories but I have way more positive dealer experiences than negative, including on service where they went to bat and got something paid to be fixed. Many of those cases it is the manufacturer that makes the call but I’ve had dealers on the sales and service side help me out tremendously.
I get that.
But I find it strange that this only applies to cars.
Why don’t other consumer products get this type of lobbying restrictions? I assume there might be others… RVs, boats or planes?
I should probably google this but this is either a TLDR or ELI5 topic.
Having been an EV driver of 3 cars over 8+ years while still owning ICE, I can confidently say the direct to consumer model is great for sales but horrible for service. Being stuck with just Tesla or Rivian centers is like being stuck with HMO—I hate it.
This is why both should co-exist.
Although I was lucky to be in an area with multiple Tesla service centers locally and my experience with 2 different ones was fine.
Oh, I live very close to two Tesla service centers and a Rivian center. But, I’m just tired of hearing the phrase “within spec” or “operating normally” as an excuse for their shoddy builds. Looking forward to more EVs from the legacy brands. Unfortunately, many of the existing legacy brand EVs just aren’t as competitive so far when it comes to drivetrain. I have more hope that legacy brands will improve their drivetrain than I do that Tesla and Rivian will improve their luxury refinement and build quality.
Can you please explain the technical advantages of a Tesla and a Rivian (Bosch) drive train compared to legacy?
DTC needs to be under the same regulations and laws as dealerships. Ive seen a lot of abuses by a specific company that the consumer had no outlet but to get the states attorney general involved. Many stories like this
Dealers are double edged swords. In bad times like Covid they are the worst, in times like now they are favorable. This sight and these deals wouldn’t exist in a DTC world. If you know hot to play the game, dealers are a blessing
It’s been discussed here several times, most people when presented with the array of complexities want to lemonade-stand the answers.
