Downpayment for a lease - typical, default

I put together some stats in the infancy of LHF. The probability of totaling a new car in the first year is so small, and in the first month is 1/12th of that. Perhaps even less than 1/12th if people drive more carefully depending on how new the car is to them.

But anyone who has read about investing knows that people heavily outweigh losses over gains, so the statistical probability is almost irrelevant in the face of cognitive bias.

Anyway, the OP’s question has been asked and answered many times. You can do 0 DAS, first DAS, or first plus reg DAS… the hypothetical “savings” likely won’t sway anyone one way over the other given any prior inclination.
