Demo/loaner BMW question

Hopefully this isn’t an obvious question - I did try to search but didn’t notice a clear answer and hoping to avoid wasting my own time and dealership time inquires on cars that will not be workable.

I’ve been looking into 2025 BMWs and have noticed that some dealers are now showing their demos/loaners as used vehicles. Most of these vehicles are not titled, which is clear from the carfax, etc. A subset of them appear to have been titled to the dealership presumably for use as loaner vehicles? Some/many of them appear to have been CPO’d by the dealer – again mostly not titled vehicles.

Can all of these vehicles be leased and still get the “new” incentives?

many thanks!

I just leased a loaner BMW so I went through this a bit. It varies by dealership in my experience. Not all pro-owned vehicles on their site will qualify, so unfortunately you probably will have to ask to find out. For example, one of my local dealers let me know that there’s a trick to their stock number system to identify them, they all start with a particular two letter stock code, and those are eligible while others are not.

In general though, cars in the “demo” or “loaner” section of a BMW dealer’s website should be eligible for new car lease programs, but the only way to know for sure is to ask.

This is my understanding for bmw.

  • Previous loaners up to 15k miles can be leased. Must originate from that dealership.
  • Executive demos (brass hats) up to 5k miles can be leased.

Both would show up as used or “corporate fleet" under carfax.

Also note that incentives may not be the same as new (i.e., reduced lease cash).

thanks both for replying!

Also note that incentives may not be the same as new (i.e., reduced lease cash).

Is there any way to figure this part out? If the lease cash is reduced significantly it probably submarines what I am trying to do.

I don’t think edmunds or the lease calculator would distinguish. I usually ask my connects at bmw or a trusted broker.

Which car are you looking at?

Thanks, trying to find a 2025 iX for my wife. It’s likely to be near the top of the budget so hoping to see what I can shake out with legwork & sweat equity :joy:

Basically just trying to avoid wasting a lot of time (for everyone) on either vehicles that don’t qualify as new or, as you noted, ones that will have reduced lease incentives.

i’m in the same boat looking to lease a loaner/demo iX to get the best deal.

My vague memory is that, at least in the past, the iX incentives were reduced on loaner/demos (by a few thousand dollars).

Maybe @IAC or @ZZAutoDeals can provide info you want.

For September, it’s $8k lease cash on 25 ix 50i loaners, reduced from $12k.

Loyalty or Conquest gets you another $1k.

Thank you!! Any chance you might know if this is the same for 2024 loaners and/or M60s (just in case I can find one)?

Really appreciate your confirmation!!

I’m not certain for 24s, but I think it’s lower given the lease cash for new is lower.

cheers, many thanks for that.
