DEMO has 400 miles more than signed paperwork

Working through a dealer on an out of state lease (haven’t seen the car in person) - paperwork already signed, registration in progress.

Carfax just popped up with a presale inspection showing mileage is 400+ higher than what’s stated on the lease agreement.

How would you approach this situation?

Look at the odometer before you sign?
That is if you are not shipping the car. Otherwise, clarify with the dealer.

I might be a softie, but if the true mileage is only off by 400 and the deal was stellar, Id def talk with the dealer about it, but if push came to shove wouldn’t nix the deal over it.

Just remember, carfax never lies and neither do dealers…oh wait, maybe that’s backwards. Just ask for a pic of the speedo, problem solved.

Dealers can’t put incorrect mileage on the contract anyway so it will be the actual mileage, whatever it is. But I agree with you, who cares about 400 miles?
