Dealer trying to scam me? (Volvo XC90 PHEV $91K MSRP, 16% discount, $10K rebates, 24/10 quote $1389 @ $3K DAS)

They didn’t disclose the MF. Even if I include the rebates in the discount, the math should be pretty simple with $19K financed over 24 payments coming to <$800, even if I account relatively generously for your money factor.

The rep mentioned “Payments also include the rental fee, monthly taxes, and MF” so I am really curious what this rental fee is.

How generous are you? Interest can be half or more of your payment.

Markup is capped by the lender at about the equivalent of 2%, so there’s something else spiking the payment.

Sounds like you got the pestered me for 4 months offer.

lol exactly my thought. Make them a serious offer and move on. OP you’ll need to likely hit up way more dealerships than you think to get a good deal. It’s a cheap flight to SoCal so don’t limit yourself.

Get the MF, otherwise this is just wild speculation and not worth anything.

Lol. Same thing happened to me today. Got a crazy lease number from a local dealer and when I input it into the calc here, it was $320mo less than what they quoted me… No idea how that dealer was baking in an extra $11k. I think the dealer just made up a random super high mf because its the only way I could make it work out on the calc here, with the price sheet they gave me.

@holeydonut I have entered the chat LOL

No seriously, anything over $900 for a Volvo is stupid. They aren’t that desirable at all.

Thank you all. I already moved on from the Volvo… and learned a bunch from your kind & thoughtful responses. We’re exchanging two cars so will likely explore BMW iX, Q6 e-tron, Acura ZDX as the SUV replacement. Maybe I’ll get two or check out BMW i4 as my second ride. All seem to have good deals and frankly often offer more luxury than the Volvo for a lot less money. THANKS!

Great answer. Thanks a lot!

IX, ZDX and I4 are all very hackable.

Q4 and Q8 more so than Q6.

Also keep in mind that programs change in a monthly basis in most cases.

A car that is very LHble this month may be an awful deal next month.

It is useless to negotiate a car over 4 months.

There is due diligence and then there is the rest of your life. The XC90 is not an F80 first edition.

With the advice you have received on here it should be 4 days now on a lease/sale.

Thank you all. Just signed a $99K MSRP BMW iX at $740/month incl tax for a 36/10 with $0 down. Will need to figure out my second car - debating if I need a PHEV or if I can live with two EVs… but that’s probably a topic for a different thread. Thanks guys!

Boy am I happy I pulled the trigger in November of 2024 for a MY 2025 XC90 B6 Plus; $550 per month ; 24 months, 12k miles a year.

The XC90 is one of the best riding SUV’s in the segment; it was between the XC90 and the BMW X5 for me; and all around, no comparison; XC90 all day long.

My wife would divorce me if I took her XC90 from her. Solid vehicle indeed.

Even better with air suspension
