Plus the warranty clock starts. You are better than most of us. I agree that 100 miles should make no difference but if it makes no difference the dealer should have just disclosed it. They didn’t because they know that it does to most people. Their fault.
BMW no longer transfers free maintenance to a subsequent buyer/lease transferee. I do not know if the car being sold to the dealer first would impact this, but your friend should check about the free maintenance.
no impact (2020202020)
What did he pay? Do you know what discount he got?
I agree with @nyclife here. On a lease, who cares if one has a demo tag if they both have 100 miles and it’s covered under warranty. A buy, that would be a different story.
10% discounts ~1600/month
Because, even with a lease, you’l have lease end options. This discovery alters his buyout options.
Especially if the warranty and free maintenance periods are shortened.
Fair enough. I never go in to a lease with the intent to buy, and I’ve never had enough equity in one to care either, so that was my thought process. YMMV I suppose.
Assuming it’s a 36 month lease he’s paying $57600 to drive it. It’s an expensive ride. He should start enjoying it.
Please… It is not like he got screwed big time - he did not lose any money. He has no problem affording the car yet spends time obtaining and filling OL code and wants to unwind the deal just because he’s mad? Potential “savings” don’t count because potentially he could have negotiated a better deal on a new one also.
There may not be any malice on the dealer’s part at all. Might’ve been an honest mistake. But that brings the question: should have BMW noticed the error while funding the contract?
Huh? 2020202020202020
EXACTLY, the only damages were his ego… That’s it. Don’t buy a car from the same dealer again.
Must be extremely fragile ego for a doctor. I hope he’s not a surgeon. The same car, he knew it had 100 miles on it. Now he accidentally found out that the wrong box was checked for some reason, so that means he could have gotten 25% demo discount on a new car instead of paltry 10%. Right…
Huh?
Again, he chooses to exercise his lease end buyout options, he just magically lost not only money but 7 months worth of warranty. Whether or not he will exercise this option isn’t your nor my concern, but rather the fact that he now has less options on the table due to fraudulent paperwork.
He most certainly did not lose nothing besides ego.
You dont know any doctors do you? Most egotistical people in the world. Lol. You also don’t know the m6 market. With some aggressive negotiating you can get a brand new non demo one for 20% off. I don’t understand why you are antagonizing my friend when you dont know him and the dealership is clearly at fault. I m not here to ask you to judge his character. I m simply asking what course of actions he can take if he chooses to press forward.
This was @Ursus point, no? If he thought it was new, why didn’t he get that 20% off to begin with then?
I know that a 50 years old doctor can be making 500k/year and probably doesn’t have much free time on his hands to worry about potential savings that he thinks he did not get. He’s not our Pretty Boy to worry about potential couple of thousands
Knew it was coming.
Can’t help it, I really like the kid’s professional trolling lol
