Hi, I know this lease deal for a Volvo EX90 Ultra 6 seater is not great but not sure what to put in the calculator to figure out what’s being marked up. Any advice on this deal, and how to negotiate the lease down?
Make your best attempt at the calculator & share it. IMO it’s pretty straightforward, but if you have specific questions, ask (or search for other threads/guidance on using it).
Use Rate Findr to separate the discount from any rebates that you qualify for.
That’s so far down low on the list of things you need to figure out.
First is why an EX90? Did you pick the car knowing how expensive it is compared to other 3-row EVs? For example is it almost twice as nice as a $600 Ioniq 9 or $700 Vistiq?
Thanks for the tip on separating discount from rebates, that’s where I was getting tripped up. I think this is what I’m getting: Leasehackr Calculator - Hack your next lease | Leasehackr
my updates
If you qualify for 15.5k in incentives, that means the discount was small. Updated to reflect that.
Also added a down payment (based on amount due) and one of the fees.
Put together a target deal and start over with another dealer. There is no universe where an EX90 should cost you $49620 to rent for 36 months.
Wait is that $50k over 3 years or some weird way to list a pretty decent looking one pay?
If that’s a huge down payment and a big payment per month. Block their number
Did you miss the two digits before the comma? It’s more than 49 THOUSAND dollars, not $4,9xx
@max_g no I think my brain couldn’t possibly think this is a real deal. To the point where I changed it in my head to a big 1 pay design lol
I literally looked at it and was like is this a 18,500 one pay with a $3000 deposit or something.
There is just no freaking way anyone human would even consider a 50k rental on this
That’s $1400 a month.
I mean I guess I’ve seen worse deals…. Just not on this site.
Ok so I got a bit smarter since I first wrote this post.
talked to a few dealers and a broker, and best I’m getting is $1125/mo, $0 DAS. Seems like a lot for a buggy car…
Smarter is using the calc here or putting you own spreadsheet together to come up with a reasonable target payment/DAS of your own.
Yes but that only works when the car is hackable ie the lease programs (RV, MF and rebates) are good enough and can be combined with a sufficient discount.
As you know not every car is hackable and not everyone wants to lease hackable cars. They want to lease what they like. So, it is beneficial ON ANY CAR to at least know how to come up with a target payment/DAS for it.
Ofc. Even easier would be to look at Signed Deals & Tips to quickly know what’s hackable.
I’m convinced too many people are stuck in a basically pre-internet world when it comes to leases. Like if the second closest airport to you was an extra 15 minutes away, you’d consider the price delta before buying tickets right?
Trivial difference, you’d stick with the closer airport right? At $500 delta (no pun intended) you’d go for the further one? Why do so few people do that with leases?
TLDR one cannot make an informed choice without knowing the relative price of the supposed first choice and its closest substitutes.
Car choice is more emotional…
