$3k under MSRP is pretty good, but isn’t the MSRP $50k which includes destination. Where is the other $2k going? Do you also not have to pay tax on EVs in MD?
Edit: I see that the Tech Package adds $1500. You can look to see what brokers are offering, but I haven’t really seen anything good on the EV6.
Yeah, the brokers haven’t had anything with it at all. And good flag on the tax; I’d planned to pay tax/tag/etc upfront, but it’s not reflected here.
Have you checked the other deals. The residual was insane on these thereby making lease the only choice . why don’t you look at Aronchi and see how the deal is. If you want to do the buyout do it at end of 3 years . The actual value will be significantly lower than residual at that time . Buying an EV when you get a killer lease deal does not seem right to me. And the monthly seems too high for a Nissan.
If you are planning on financing at a rate of 5.76% or higher than you aren’t gaining ANYTHING since you’d be paying the same amount of interest with a higher monthly payment.
Other downsides of buying it out at this point is that the car may depreciate more than the 58% residual they are currently estimating. Also if the car gets into an accident the value would drop even more.
So why take on this risk when you can let the bank take the risk?
As a side note, if you plan to keep it as a lease than you should try to negoiate the marked up MF (marked up from .00197).
EVs are depreciating like crazy . So unless absolutely necessary just lease it. You should be able to buy it out from dealer at 5k to 6k discount on residual after 3 years because that will be the going rate . And as the above poster mentioned anything over 5% is too much.
Have you considered ID4 ? They are giving MSRP discount of 4-5k on top of 7500 rebate and interest rate is 3.9
This matters more for flips and short term ownership than 3+ year ownership.
I wouldn’t touch buying out an EQS but ~$40-45k MSRP EVs will turn out to be ok as supply/demand normalizes over the next couple years and wholesalers will demand 3-5 year old ones as dealers start to figure out the federal POS credit for used EVs.
4-5 year ownership cycles will still beat 2-3 year lease cycles especially in a place like MD with its tax structure that’s so punitive to leases.
King was sketchy as hell. The $6750 included the Kia money, and then they said it wasn’t valid on the lease. Very unwilling to go below MSRP and even the basic deal sheet had a couple of obvious scammy add-ons snuck in.
EV sales have started to plateau . Something gotta give in next 3 -4 months . If you can wait , that might be optimal . Note Tesla model 3 refresh and Volvo ex30 are coming up next. Pricing above 40k for EV pre tax credit might take a hit. Keep those in consideration. Good luck .
