My post serves as a detailed documentation of the potential messiness and troubles for future out-of-state leasee to consider…
Whether the dealer will pay to ship the car back if the deal breaks remains my biggest question. Can’t find any languagein the agreement or other paperwork to clarify this
Is your only concern that Hyundai wouldn’t fund the deal is over the registration? If so, I don’t think you have anything to worry about. And when I signed my out of state lease, I paid for registration on my own in person as the dealer wouldn’t even register it off me as the terms of the deal.
Also I shipped the car the next day and the deals don’t fund that quickly. I think at least…
Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences and guidance.
I took the plunge to ship the car on Friday 5/8 after going back and forth. With a new baby arriving, grand parents visiting and work getting busy, I simply don’t have much mental capacity to spare at this point.
@GOAT’s shipper Chris got the car from OK to SoCal within 24 hours
Hyundai funds the deal on 5/12
Now let’s see if dealer follows through with CA registration
Got CA license plate and 2026 registration handed to me today! Dealership paid a local SoCal contractor to have everything DMV-related paid and processed, so I just spent 3 min at the contractor’s office to have the vin verified. Truly amazed by how smooth and painless this is! Now I want to commend the OK dealership and recommend the DMV contractor to anyone in SoCal considering out-of-state leasing
