This site would have no traffic if everyone did what the manufacturers intended.
Your lease cash is the same (and has the same benefit of lowering the cap cost) whether you buy the lease on day 10 after signing or whether you take the lease to term.
You can take advantage of an indirect buying incentive (the lease cash) or ignore it. Up to you.
I’ve contacted 6 dealers about an N in the past week or two. 4 have said no to out of state leases.
Anyhow, they do not lease well. It’s $850/month for 36/10K and about $1K for 24/10K in my zipcode in FL. One pay leases were around $25K. That’s not great for a $67K vehicle.
But honestly don’t care. There’s nothing else like it. The RV is really low… I think 46% and the MF is a tad high.
I’ve wanted one for a year now and now the incentive is $16500 so it’s no longer $1200/month to lease one lol.
My local dealer refused to budge on having a $1,000 be non-refundable if they get the car in and I don’t go through with the deal. I asked for a partial refund to cover cost (which should be moving the car 200 miles), and they said no. So I guess I’ll go to dealers with actual inventory in the state and ask for better deals than a $650 dealer incentive, which is what I was getting from the local dealer to ship in a car from another dealer.
Supply has dwindled. The 3 remaining in FL I was looking at - all sold within the last 10 days so there are none left in FL.
If I miss out on the two out of state… oh well. There are other vehicles I can lease/purchase. I wanted a trackable EV that could be a daily so this is my first choice. Second would be a M3P then used Taycan. If you aren’t going to track the Ioniq 5 N… honestly get something else.
I’m also looking at non-EVs like C8s, Supras, maybe a Nismo Z.
So I ended up with maybe a worse deal than before. Only got the $650 off from the dealer and have to pay a $350 delivery fee (negotiated down from $700) from the dealer with inventory in South Carolina (I’m in North Carolina). Ultimately ending up at $0 down and $760 per month. Just decided not to wait any more because of dwindling inventory, especially on the color I wanted.
Sorry to fail you Hackrs, but I appreciate all the advice.
Congrats!
Enjoy the car. $760/month is nothing because there aren’t any EVs like it.
The last two I was interested in - both have pending deals. There are two more in GA but that’s it.
I guess I’m moving onto to a C8 lol.
so what’s your best guess as to what manufacturers will have to do to sell EVs after the Rebates leave?
I guess it depends how invested they are in EVS. My take is american manufacturers may consider production cuts and rethink the strategy. Look at Toyota. They are focused on Hybrids at least for the US, not EVS. Maybe they will try subsidized finance deals? If the car market itself weakens, they dont want to make cars that will sit on the lot. Becuase the incentives are ending, they pushed forward sales to now. While that is good for them now, what does it do for the months right after the $7500 ends? I also think relatively cheap gas prices dont help them, altough at this point I dont think the price of gas is the top motivating factor. Look at Tesla, the leader. They have been making the same models for years with no new ideas in years. They look to be moving onto to other business operations like robo taxis.
Welp. I leased an 5N but at $100/month more than you… for a couple reason.
I lost out on 6 other Ns over the past 4 days and since my Mach-E Ford Options is ending… this is the best replacement that I WANT. I don’t want a Blazer or Q6. I want to autocross monthly again and track once or twice a year also.
If a vehicle isn’t profitable and isn’t selling at a min price target, you will see automakers just stop producing or importing these vehicles (EV or not).
I seriously doubt the 2026 Ioniq 5 N will make it stateside. Most sat for a year at dealerships and I doubt Hyundai will make a profit selling them at $50-55K USD - which is the number they are currently leasing at. It’s a niche car that has many custom parts.
I just got one today. I live near Raleigh but drive down to SC to pick it up. I got 557/mo with 2500 at signing including 950 negative from pulling ahead my ioniq 5 SEL lease(4 payments of 233) and add military rebate(500).
This is for a 36/10. Are you working with Keffer?
Congrats! That sounds like dealer gave you $1500-2500 in incentives. I got spooked by the rapid decline in inventory and the fact that Hyundaiusa listed limited inventories only on their build page (which was a change a couple of days ago). I’m working with Fred Henderson in Greer, SC. They said they’ll deliver to my door on Monday, but we’ll see. I still haven’t seen the contract.
I imagine we end up close at then end of the day. NC has terrible property taxes on cars.
I think I must have spoken to all the dealers in the south that many of you have contacted. About 5-6 said no to out of state leasing (Keffer, Edmonds, various MI ones, a few SC ones). Another handful had the N sold as I was talking to them. I suspect ones you two probably snagged lol. I was primarily looking for orange but ended up with Eco-Matte.
The inventory is slim pickings. For an entire year almost every FL dealer had an N on the lot and within the last month the supply when from a dozen plus to maybe three and now none in FL.
Only 3%. Other states have much more. Mine was just under 2000 in taxes.
Dealer gave me 4k off msrp. 17*k incentives. My 2500 payment.
That’s an amazing deal compared to mine. GA and FL have high dealer and doc fees. And $4K off is also amazing. That lowers your monthly by $100.
What dealer was this? AutoNation Hyundai Columbia?
3% sales tax, but our property taxes in NC that get paid with annual registration fees is high. That was one of my shocks when moving from FL to NC years ago.
Congrats on the deal! $4,000 off MSRP by the dealer is amazing.
Congrats on the new leases. I used to have an Ioniq 5.
Just be aware that by getting the cars out of state, you don’t qualify for NC lemon law. Hopefully it won’t be an issue.
And yes property tax is annoying here.
Add the $200+ EV registration fee on top of that and you’re paying almost 1k/year for a car with inflated MSRP.
