Dealerships easily skirted the selling over MSRP thing by simply selling $5,000 Perma Plate, charging for PDI, or other clever things to mark-up the transaction amount without increasing the price of the vehicle itself.
I don’t think 3rd party lead-gen-brokers could provide enough direct value to a Ford dealership to be worth challenging their franchise agreements with Ford and vehicle allocation.
Regardless, I’m amazed @Bostoncarconcierge found a dealer that let him try to sling Fords. There are no Ford brokers out here in NorCal.
Fords historically don’t lease worth a $hit. That’s probably the main reason you see so little broker activity on Fords.
To OP, why don’t you work up a target deal that they are willing to sign today and present that to the dealer instead of beating your head against a wall trying to work with a Ford dealer.
Yeah, just got off the phone with a dealer that has a 400 day aged MME. They refuse to dip lower than 4% off MSRP (4% off the re-stated MSRP with the price drop Ford did earlier this year). SM just told me if they go lower than 4% off front end, they’ll lose money on the deal, and they aren’t prepared to lose money on the car just yet.
I guess the day before it goes to Manheim, we’ll see what happens.
The MME isn’t worth the squeeze IMO. It won’t be a Hackr worthy deal. Ford’s expecting enough excited Ford-Fans to jump on their product and won’t sell on price.
I think Ford remembers the fervor back when people were paying ADM on the MME and thinking those people still exist so they’ll buy another MME at MSRP if the inventory sits around long enough.
