Ok. I am working with this dealer in central TX area. We have been going back and forth past several days. See the calculator link below. Effectively, they are giving me 7500 discounts off of MSRP, mainly costco, conquest, and supplier. Here is where we are:
24m/10k/$0 Down - $675
36mo/10K/$0 Down - $650
Per the calculator, I should be in mid $500s with the money factor that I am getting from the RateFinder. I asked the dealer to match the money factor (0.00137083) and I am told there is no way and what they gave me is the best they can do. Are they playing hard ball? Is it reasonable for me to except them to match the money factor I am getting from the RateFinder? What do you think about this deal overall?
I put the 7500 discount under Taxed Incentives. Effectively, here are the numbers he gave me.
MSRP: 59,914
Discounts: 7,500
Taxes and Fees: 1,814.34
Dealer Fees etc: 625
Final Price: 54,853
I thought thats where it went. I checked with the dealer. He said taxes and fees are rolled into the lease. So this is zero down payment. I just have to pay the first months lease on pickup.
I am leaning towards 36mo, but I am just curious how likely I can push them on money factor to bring the monthly down. I am not sure if they will give me any more discounts.
There’s a difference in discount vs incentive. If you aren’t getting ANY discount, then it’s probably not a good deal (unless this is a super hot vehicle in your market).
Yeah I have been having difficulties with the calculator as well. However, there is no discount off of the MSRP apart from costco, conquest, and supplier discounts. I priced out a loaner from a different dealer out of state and they gave me final price 2500 less than this one. But that loaner had 2000 miles and it did not have the premium color.
At this point, I am trying to figure out if I can push them on money factor at all. Not sure if anyone here was able to negotiate a lower money factor. We havent done an official lease application just yet.
You need to get a more exact breakdown of “taxes and fees” and “discounts.” Obviously there are some sales tax credits on this vehicle now in TX. I tried to do the calculator but it’s hard to be very precise if all of the items aren’t put in correct box. Obviously the MF is marked up. I’m not seeing $7500 of rebates available on this vehicle per RateFinder. Hence, needing to know more specifics.
This is pretty close to Covert’s deal. You’re getting a partial sales tax credit, hence why your taxes are so low for TX. But as you said, they are marking up the MF, so that negates the dealer discount of less than 3%. Not really a great deal for an Optiq.
Ratefinder shows the base rate offered by GM Financial….many dealers will and are allowed to mark up the rate for additional profit.
The way recommend getting around this is be the first person in the negotiation to make an offer to a dealer. It allows you to set the expectation vs a dealer setting an expectation and you working back down till you agree to a deal that will most likely still be crappy for you.
Well. I was pushing to get the sales price to 52K but that did not happen. He said he is giving maximum discounts he possibly can. We are negotiating over text. I said I ll walk away. He said he ll throw in window tints. Another $300 value. He said he can give me the exact amount if I let them run a credit which I did. The current offer is $640/mo 36m/10K zero down, plus free window tint which we need down here in TX. What do you think?
Do you mean to ask for more covert discount? Currently they are giving me 1750 (covert dealer discount) off of MSRP plus conquest, supplier and costco.
Agreed. I told them I am passing. They gave me $624/mo. I did not accept. They called me a couple of times. Now sure how much they will go down at this point.
