This is atrocious and reason enough to forget about leasing one of these.
Thats $16000 in rent charge alone over the life of the lease.

I havenāt checked rate hackr or Edmunds, but this likely means this vehicle is just a terrible lease option and the dealer is not your problem.
Seems high. Must have a bunch of random factory add-ons since the top of the line SX X-Prestige X-Pro with no options and destination included is $54,350
Great SUV⦠way too much a month.
Looking into a 3rd row for my wife. Sheās set on a telluride at the moment. SX or SXP the best choice? What are your thoughts on buying new vs a used 2023?
Thanks!
SX is the sweet spot IMO, but if you want/need the extra features from the Prestige package then go for it.
Iād definitely buy new. Couldnāt imagine buying used for the same price.
I prefer the SX because I donāt consider the HUD or digital rear view mirror critical.
Now if you stumble upon a SXP⦠sure take it.
Officially the differences are ārain-sensing wipers, a digital rearview camera mirror, a premium cloth headliner, and soft Nappa leather seating. Other enhancements are second-row heated and ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel, a 110-volt power outlet, and a 10-inch head-up display.ā
The heated and ventilated seats in the second row might be the big bonus if you have kids and live in a cold climate.
wonder how worthwhile these upgrades are over the current options in the SX? anyone tested the two and can comment on the difference?
A lot folks hate the headliner material and color of it.
Nappa is a toss up. Itās nice but not amazing on the Telluride. The reason you get Nappa is the color choices. Thereās Terracotta and another (I think).
These are just matters of personal preference. Same as a paint color that requires extra $
Some people think itās worth it, some donāt.
For that same payment you could get a loan with a credit union at a lower rate and just OWN the car. Sell it when youāre done, save the headache.
The thread so far is trying to tell you that, there is no value proposition in leasing this vehicle, even if you got the best MFand no markup.
OP has probably moved on since February. Right now we are trying to help out @Shakey22
Just my ADHD getting the best of me and not checking dates on posts.
I do wonder what the result was!
If you are going to buy it, you are likely to keep it for 3-5 years. If that is the case, spend the extra few Gs and get the SX Prestige X-Pro.
At least that way you wonāt die wondering what it might have been like for not spending another $50-$80 per month.
No regrets having no regrets.
Appreciate the advice. We havenāt purchased a car in a long time so itās a different mindstate I think with this vehicle. I wish they didnāt lease so terribly. This is a vehicle I think my wife would enjoy owning for 3-5 years though.
She does not care for heads up displays but the heated rear seats would be beneficial when the kids are out of booster seats. The SX probably checks enough boxes.
I wish Kia would run one of those low interest purchase deals that Audi was running recently. Doesnāt seem like brokers have any pull on these either.
To each their own but thereās nothing in the X Pro thatās appealing to me.
Same. Telluride is based on a minivan platform. I ordered an X-Pro and checked it out when it arrived but passed. SX Prestige is the top useful trim to me.
Kia doesnāt need to incentivize Tellurides as they sell themselves.
The 110 in the rear, AT tires on 18s, blacked out body bits, door handles, 500 pounds of extra towing, std. self-leveling suspension and other upgrades are well worth the extra few bucks for the SXPXP. If you will at all be in snow, on light off road or forest service trails, or towing anything of substance like we are then the extra shizz becomes even more worth it.
That is not to mention the resale issue. I have had more than a few buyers (mostly spouses) wilt in the driveway and pay my over the top asking price on resale with the much-loved (the statement loved by me, the car/truck loved by them) and murmured ābut it has literally everything and every optionā whispered time and time again to the negotiating spouse in response to my hardball figure.
But yep, to each his/her own.
The SX probably checks enough boxes.
Iād check out the EXP too.
Also: depending on your other car(s), there are some features you may not want to have. One thing Iāve realized after having BVCM (blindspot view camera monitor) in both cars for a year or more, is that now almost every other car feels like a tomb with blindspots all around. I did not anticipate this and would probably undo it if I could.
Finally decided to get some numbers from a local dealer who emailed and claimed they āhad to sell 19 more cars by months endā. I know that these lease terribly and itās better to purchase but I asked for numbers on a 36 month 10k leaseā¦. First, they told me that it was a non negotiable 3k markup and I was quoted $7000 DAS and $699/month.
I laughed and told them no thanks and to lose my number moving forward. This was all after I had to listen to the sales managers spiel about this dealership being a 75 year family owned dealership who do things āthe right wayā.
It was a bit of a joke. I think Iāll hold off until interest rates goes down or if another 3 row suv lease comes along
