> We got the VROOM topic going ([Sold one to VROOM! - #254 by SunshineOC](https://forum.leasehackr.com/t/sold-one-to-vroom/56848/254)) but thought I’d throw in how easy it was with Carvana too, and why it’s important to check both. Put the wife’s Lexus data through both Vroom and Carvana, vroom was $2k under the payoff, Carvana was $45 over it. Submitted the paperwork for Carvana, got on the phone with them to discuss lease transfer stuff with Lexus in the state of MO (easy peasy). Not if you buy/lease another Audi though. Clearly intended to prevent someone from trading in an Audi to lease from different car …

Instead of simply returning the vehicle at lease end, you may be able to sell the vehicle to a third party (such as Carvana, Shift, Vroom, and CarMax) for a profit. However, some lenders are making it difficult for consumers to access this “lease equity” by charging a higher lease buyout price to third-party buyers than to consumers, or altogether prohibiting third…

To post this. TL;DR

- VW/Audi don’t allow third-party buyouts
- you may still buy the car, as your lease specifies
- unless you are in CA, you will pay tax on the transaction (in CA you have 10 days to resell - covered at length in other posts)
