This W212 E 350 BlueTec Luxury that I negotiated for my parents started it all for me…

It clattered like a FedEx van, had gobs of torque, a polished wood steering wheel, and a floaty ride with the occasional crash through the run flats (DEF tank where the spare normally goes). A nice German taxi.

Helped some friends and family get a similar deal, and a few years later, a blog called Leasehackr was founded.

The BlueTec was later replaced by a 2015 E 350 Sport (facelift + coarse petrol V6), 2017 E 300 loaner from @nyclife, and then a 2019 E 300 loaner with DISTRONIC, before going electric.

Not a particularly special car, but the first car that showed me it was possible to get in and out of cars relatively “financially responsibly.” (Thanks Covid bubble)

Maaaaan, what a ride!
I’ve been drooling over pre-facelift R129 AMGs lately.
How long did you have it? How did you like it? Any serious problems?

I got it few months ago and dropped $8,000 into overhauling. I haven’t even driven it. It is in NJ but should get it shipped down
