Car Leases in Georgia

Hi,

I am fairly new to Alpharetta, GA, and I am looking to lease a new Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have been leasing for 20 yrs, but I am kind of stumped on how to think about the taxes that are rolled in when negotiating. Also, I plan on trading in my current lease for about $10K equity, but also having issues understanding how this impact the GA Tax on Leased cars. Would appreciate any tips or tricks that I can use in negotiating a new lease in GA.

Tax credit when going from lease to purchase?

I’m in the process of trading in my leased vehicle and purchasing a new vehicle. I got the final numbers from the dealership and they don’t include any sales tax. The salesman says because they’re buying the leased vehicle for more than what i’m buying the new vehicle for that I get a tax credit and don’t pay any sales tax. It seems weird to me because I thought you only got a tax credit when going from purchase to purchase. I’m in Georgia by the way so if anyone is familiar with this i’d appre…
