about lease assumption for tx to tx,
Once stage 3 is completed, transferor hands over vehicle and remove plates. Once transferee receives paper documents, goes to DMV/tax county office to register vehicle?
Correct. Confirm with BMW financial still for Texas.

Just completed stage 3 yesterday on an i4 transfer from NJ to PA.
Stage 2 was e-signed by both parties on Monday. Stage 3 completed Wednesday, and Fed-ex received with documents today on Thursday.
I need to register the car in PA now. I emailed BMW to send the physical title to the DMV tag agency in PA.
How long has this taken others? My understanding is they need the physical title to allow me to register the car in PA which is the only way I can “legally” drive it back from NJ to my home in PA. Is this correct?
What did BMW say ?
You wont need the physical title in your hand and BMW will never give you the physical title of their car in your hands.
The paperwork BMW FS has sent you should have a power of attorney for you by BMW which allows you to register the car in your state.
BMW does tens of these transfers every day in every state. Call them and confirm and Im sure you will have all what you need.
P.S. Try going to an actual DMV rather than a 3rd party tag agency as I have discovered over years that their staff may not be as good as actual DMV employees.

Should’ve just gone to AAA if you had the docs, they can do it in office in 30 m. I did NY to PA, they gave me a limited POA + NY title, and I had everything done w new PA plates issued.
Pretty quick CA → GA transfer (not sure if CA to out of state is generally faster than CA → CA)

The process ended up being straightforward. Called BMW financial and they emailed me over a title request form. Returned it the same day and 3 business days later the local title/tag agency received it. Was able to get the car registered the same day. This delayed the pick-up slightly but was quite easy with BMWF.
