Does bmw lease mandate using bmw oem windshield replacement?

The bmw dealer gave 6k quote for ix. Not sure if insurance covers this price if Safelite is cheaper.

The real problem is if you have a head-up display, which you should. That usually requires OEM glass.

What state are you in ? Most states cover front windshields without raising rates. Also, by law they have to cover it with as close to oem specs and what manufacturers accept.
I dont think their is any clause with any Auto manufacturers lease that specifically says that windshield has to be replaced by an OEM part only.

Doesn’t need to be OEM but then again, your HUD or some other system might not work correctly. Happened to my Mercedes

What law says and what insurance companies do are very different things 🙂

Thanks everyone. I got insurance to approve oem glass (from dealer) but install from Safelite. Let’s see how it goes

Is it through your glass coverage that does not impact deductible or regular insurance that does? My glass coverage maxes out at $2,600

Same with Porsche, I wasn’t messing with aftermarket glass. Some are fine but I think the higher end cars.. just get OEM parts and be done with it.

Insurance claimed they wouldn’t pay for OEM material and that I would be responsible for the difference out of pocket. Dealer handled it using OEM and I never heard a peep nor saw a bill from insurance.
