BMW iX - All Electric SUV Discussion

I’ve had my '23 for 12 months and zero problems. Every 2-3 months I might get a weird error message on the infotainment screen, or my Apple CarPlay would stop connecting. But if I reboot the operating system (takes about 2 minutes, and you can even do it while driving the car) these little software glitches fix themselves.

You might have seen this recent article? FWIW, Edmund’s says this car is one of their most reliable EVs.

I’ve had less issues with the iX in 11 months than I have with our MX in 8 weeks.

I must have jinxed myself, after saying there is no issues - I now have a TPM error come on everytime. It seems it happened right after I updated the software.

Warmer weather not causing higher than normal pressure?

seems like a software glitch , since it comes on and off sometimes not right away but when driving where it says the TPM malfunctioned and to see a service dealer.

Here’s a head-scratcher. Around Oct 2023, I helped a friend get a 2024 iX with zero options. His car has the front camera (and self parking). In Dec 2023, I got a 2024 iX with Sport, upgraded wheels and maybe a few minor options. However, my car does not have the front camera. When the dealer looked up my friend’s build sheet, it has Parking Assistant Plus included even though he has no options. My build sheet does not show Parking Assistant Plus. The dealer said they didn’t receive any notice from BMW regarding a change in standard options. I’m waiting for an explanation from BMW on why one car has it and one car doesn’t.

Send me a direct message with both VIN numbers and I’ll see what I can find out

Abundance of caution is good. BMW makes dealers update inventory cars before they are delivered, is that how it work ?

With EQS, you don’t have any stop sales or even recalls that are communicated to customers, as far as I know. First scheduled service on the car is in 2 years. Unless you run into issues, dealers don’t bother to update the software. I leased 2 EQS (sedan and SUV) 10 month apart from different dealers. Both had same 12v charging issue that showed random battery warnings and sometimes wouldn’t let me start the car. Both required same update and have been fine since. I bet lots of people just drive the car until it bricks completely, then dealer may apply the update.

My car left the factory Jan 30.

Still at the port.

:sob:

That is unusual, but sometimes it just randomly happens, it’s a 1 in 100 thing.

What ever happened to all the ordered BMW and MB on this boat? Did BMW just queue up new orders? Or did folks get pushed into the next year’s allocation?

My insurance quote jumped 90%, anyone got cheaper insurance for this?
Costco even straight denied to insure this vehicle. Only a small accident(~$2500 loss no injuries) last year. Collison itself is 900/6 months :joy:
Do they finally realize how expensive to fix these cars?

Not surprised with costco - I got denied for non moving violation.

It seems just for this vehicle, quote with a new Audi Q5 Vin and it returned something

They will not insure you for that audi either. They give me the quote and their website rejected me when I proceed to pay. I called and they told me because of the non-moving violation ticket 1 year ago. I’ll be surprised if you get different result with accident claim. My brother & my parent did get coverage from them, however their records are clean, not even a parking ticket.

Costco doesn’t do cars over MSRP over 100k, maybe that’s why?

insurance is very regional. What might be good for me might be bad for you on where you live. Hit them all up, Geico, Farmers, Allstate, Progressive, State Farm, Amica (mine), nationwide, auto owners, AAA to name a few.

It’s looking more and like I am not going to see this iX I ordered in december…

I see a cayenne turbo calling my name.
