BMW end of lease protection normal?

Yes I will wait until Monday to hear back. I will try to escalate it up the chain if my requests to remove them are not met. Come back Monday guys for the update haha thanks Electric for the support!

40k out of all season run flat Continental ContiProContacts? I beg to differ. I got 18k out of mine, and I’m not tracking the car.

Yeah, good luck with that. 2 years, maybe. 3…I’ll believe it when I see it.

Still wouldn’t get the tire protection though. Throw a set of used tires on, or a Chinese set of RFTs that meet OEM specs, if you need them.

I returned my all season tires from my 5 series 2 years ago with 44.5k miles and I still have good enough thread to use. I didn’t bought lease protection and didn’t get a bill. FYI, I use 70% fwy and I drove it like I own a Camry since it was a 528i. Lol

But I bought lease protection getting the 750i m sport package and it’s worth it. Changed my tires at 24k and I’m good to til I reach 45k then the lease protection was worth it. $1700 for that set of tire. Bought the lease protection for $750

@28firefighter, how many miles did you have on your x1 when you had to replace the RFTs?

I’ll be mostly highway driving and I don’t drive aggressive so hopefully that’ll help. ;o

Tire + wheel protection just prevents accidental damage, not from regular wear & tear and I have no idea why I signed up for that. End of lease protection does protect tires from regular wear & tear but like I said hopefully they’ll last long enough that I won’t need to replace them. If they need to be replaced, I guess I’ll just do it myself at the without the dealership trying to overcharge.

@jhkmd83 agreed, do not sweat it. Evey tire is different. I learned a lot from forums and from here as well. Lease hackng bimmer is well documented. Most of us driving a bimmer here gets amazing deals.

23-24k miles. Abysmal.

Yes isn’t this the case? The tire protection plan isn’t worthwhile.
And the issue with the end of lease plan is that you need to wait until the end and it is unlikely your tires will wear out right at that moment so it means either driving on bad tires (dumb idea) or paying to replace them early.

At least you did better than me. I had 2/32nds left at 18k. I don’t go below that just from a safety point, so I may have squeezed another couple thousand out of them, but I’d rather not risk it.

I let it go to 3/32 before replacing both from a safety perspective as well as wanting to get some personal use of newer tires.

Yes tires I’m not too worried about. Even if I had to replace them before finishing my lease due to normal wear & tear, so be it. That’s just a cost that comes with driving.

Thanks to everyone here I got an amazing deal on my BMW as well… except that I ruined it at the end by adding those two protection plans like an idiot, ugh lol. Come on BMW, remove them or you guys will be getting a 1 star review from me!!

Run flats are a complete scam, designed for folks too good to change a tire. I’d much rather have a spare, because inevitable I’ll get a flat on holiday weekend and no one will be able to fix it. The newest scam is offering no spare on base model cars. Look at a Jetta S, no spare! Only comes on SE and higher trim. Allot of Cherokee’s don’t come with one either.

Or donut spare which is equally as useless.

I swear my LS FSport was one of the last to come with full size spare.

I’d rather have a donut and pay half as much for a set of tires. A donut will get you to a spot to make a repair, seems like 90% off flats are screws or nails that can be plugged in about 5 minutes

Consider getting non RFT. The ride improves substantially.

Yes, even better.

Update!

So to summarize, I signed a BMW lease on Friday afternoon with lease end protection + wheel & tire protection (stupid me) and immediately regretted the decision when I got home. I called back Saturday morning and they told me they have to wait until Monday to hear back from the Corporate office since it is closed over the weekend.

After agonizingly waiting for two days (haha, I know), I called back the dealership this morning but nobody from financial services picked up. So instead, I made a call to the general manager who had given me the initial awesome lease deal and he said he’ll talk to the finance guys and get back to me.

I got a call back in about an hour from the finance people and they told me that they will CANCEL the end of lease + tire & wheel protection and CREDIT the amount + tax back to my total cost of the lease.

So my total monthly lease cost will remain the same (higher than without those two protection costs) but my lease payment will end at least 6-7 months in advance before the lease is up due to the decreased total lease amount.

TLDR: I successfully got a refund on lease end protection + tire & wheel protection that I stupidly signed up for.

Thank you everyone for your support & encouragement as you guys helped me stay positive and persistent throughout. Leasehackr community is the best! It was my first ever lease signing and I felt like I was ripped off and felt horrible but now it is all resolved. I can finally go enjoy my new ride!!!

If you total it before the end of the term you won’t see that money, or at least that’s what I’m thinking.

Lol oh god, I’ll pray that won’t ever happen! :stuck_out_tongue:
