BMW dealer pulls out of negotiation

Understood, but sales manager approves framework (10% off, all available incentives, base money factor, no add ons, etc.), but weasels out once computer spits out a payment. I’ve heard it all - latest is we can’t offer an incentive if we sell below invoice, which is total crap and clearly means we don’t sell our precious metal at $300 per month. Payments spook them. They sell enough at $600+ that the idea of selling one for half that causes panic.

Don’t waste your time with BMW Portland, Kuni are way more aggressive and much easier to deal with.
I leased a 54k wagon loaner in December for $400 inc tax, zero drive offs.
If you find something online reach out to Brady Lane and get the ball rolling. If you’ve done your math and you are being realistic, it won’t take long to get to where you need to be.

I’d like to point out that I worked directly with a sales manager at BMW of Portland (not the one mentioned above). There is absolutely no excuse for making an agreement and then switching the numbers on a contract without a word - wasting my time, my wife’s time, and my boss’ time (he drove me to pick up the car). I understand the auto industry is aggressive, but that’s too far.

Go to Kuni.

Good news guys!

Sealed the deal on a new 2017 330e. This is my first BMW! It’s Jet Black and black interior. Will post pics once the car and I are in the same state

Huge shout out to @Lulu29 for inspiring me with his BMW and for helping me out with some info. The dealer is in Indiana, so I have to ship the car but it works out because I am in the middle of a cross-country move. I would love any recs on shipping companies if anyone has one they trust!

MSRP: $53,235
Sales Price: $43,562.38 (Includes extra wear and tear package)
Rebates: $7000 ($6000 on 330e’s + $1000 college grad)

Term: 24/12k

Due at signing: $0
Monthly: $210.93

You should send the deal sheet to BMW Portland. What a joke.

BMW of Portland pulled the same crap on me.
I worked with David Padgalskas and Yazen Albustany. We agreed on all terms over emails. Then when the final numbers gets on paper, they were all inflated (by a lot and everywhere). Extra fees came out of no where. I asked over a few emails to break down the fees. They just played the runaround game. I asked the answer for A, they answered with B.
Acquisition fee was charged twice (once rolled then another time hidden in fees) He explained it had to be rolled in monthly. Then in another email, he said it was included in the fees. So charged twice.
The MSD (this happened before MSD was cut) was higher than was correct for the price of the car payment. Like if it was $7k, he wanted $10k.
When I asked about it, they didn’t answer directly. Just said the MSD was a mistake but no explanation for the extra Acquisition fee (and other fees). Then just asked me what was the payment I was looking for and we could work backwards to it. It was hard to believe both of them made those mistakes by accident. These guys do this everyday and it was intentional.
I couldn’t trust them anymore and I didn’t want to waste anymore time at that point and just moved on.
I don’t have any experience at Kuni but have heard they are ok.
Just stay away from BMW of Portland and especially the two I worked with.

DStarting to think this is just the model Lithia has chosen to follow. If you’re looking for a “Good” (invoice or over) deal or want a custom order car, they’re your people. If you want a great or hackr worthy deal, you’re going to need to look in CA and ship it up.

I really like the guys at BMW Seattle (another Lithia dealer). They’re unbelievably helpful and some are true enthusiasts. They’ll be the first to tell you that the types of deals we want are not what they’ll do. In fact I’ve sent a number of coworkers their way because the bottom dollar isn’t what they cared about - the service and desire to get exactly what they wanted was more important. Those folks were thrilled.

Is the $6000 rebate only for leases? or also for purchases? Trying to work a similar deal.

@BMW_Dave Would know for sure.

So, the one 330e that BMW Portland has left has been on their lot for 90+ days. If my theory holds true, someone should be able to get a deal on it now. My theory is that Lithia does not allow write-downs on loaners until that 90-day mark.

I think money factor went up to .00156 but everything else stayed the same, but not 100% sure.

Anyone brave enough to give it a go? I’d reach out directly to David Padgalskas to save some time.

This thread was a good read on who to stay away from.

I’m glad it worked out for Hunter.

It doesn’t matter how good the deal is, they’re not worth the time. When it comes to signing, the numbers will change. I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to pull shit after it was all done, either. They’re just not worth the headache.

In Oregon, from what I believe, a verbal contract is binding, assuming you can prove the terms. Which is sounds like you can, from the emails. Not sure what that will get you, other than buying the car at the price you initially agreed upon. And that would likely include threatening to sue, getting their lawyers involved ect. So it may not be worth it.

Ahhh BMW of Portland. LOL What a terrible location on top of terrible deals.

Had a terrible experience with David Padgalskas trying to accomplish 600$ a month on a 56K 2017 X5. Stay away.

Lithia just bought a big dealership group in Pittsburgh last month, and another last year. Guess I’ll stay clear of those.
