Best SUV under $500 per month?

As somebody in a similar situation looking in a similar range, I ended up leasing a JGC 2021 High Altitude. I don’t fully understand the common statement of “it’s about to be obsolete”. Yes there’s a redesign and yes there will be some updated features but in my opinion, especially in the high altitude trim, it’s still one of the best looking SUVs on the market, has perfect internal proportions, a better infotainment system than a lot of new rivals, adequate safety features and all the things you might like inside (panoramic sunroof, heated steering/seats, ventilated seats). The driving position is unmatched. Engine still punchy (if a little inefficient). And the harmon kardon audio is better than any bmw, audi etc in any car I’ve ever heard. So if the car is one of the best SUVs around, why is the fact it was designed 10 years ago make it bad. I really did try to find another car to like as much and couldn’t emulate the experience. Sure the next one might be nicer in some ways (and maybe worse in others) but if you like it, get it. Lease it if you think you might want to change it up as sure in a few years you might get bored.

Just my thoughts on the matter. My issues with the others mentioned were cross sport (looked great, big interior, terrible audio/infortainment and engine is awful and has horrible delay in power), stelvio (used to own a giulia so I can vouch for how fun/fast/beautiful it is but it’ll be much smaller than JGC), X3/GLC are nice but smaller and to get same features you’ll be adding a lot of cost, disco sport is nice but again a bit smaller, all the hondas are ugly. The F-pace is phenomenal, beautiful, almost large enough and nice features. Would have got this car if I didn’t like the higher driving position of jeep. And again the harmon kardon in JGC is another level.

Ok stream of thought over. Enjoy what you get and everyone’s idea of value is different.

(Oh also weirdly I drove behind the JGC 2022 prototype on the way back from the dealership). Looks nice and inferior has a lot of screens. Looking forward to seeing what’s updated and how it looks without all the tape on it)

The thing I like about the JGC is that it has that tough manly look that’s a little sporty. It is very comfortable and yes I do love the audio system. I hope the 2022 comes with Lane Keep instead of just Lane Assist.
