Best Options with negative equity

I have a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo E 4x4 with nearly 111k miles. I am hoping to push to $10k trade but seem to be getting 8-9k. I owe about $15k on it. In VA, sales tax is up front. Do you guys see a world where I would get enough incentives on a vehicle and get me out the door under $500/month with the negative equity and sales tax? If not, that is fine, just figured I would check. I am open to full ev options, plug in hybrid is an option, or hybrids. I need better gas mileage and I go about 90 miles round trip a day. I need 15k mile lease options. Right now I have a Honda Prologue deal at about $591 after trade, this is before me taking it in for live negotiations. Thank you for the help or suggestions.

And yes I asked a similar question before but I limited it to 3 row suvs. Now I am not stuck on that at all as I need the MPGs to increase. Thanks!

90x25x12=27,000 miles

Am I doing this wrong?

looking forward to the “i’m stuck with this leased prologue that’s inconvenient to charge because i drive too much” negative equity post

I mean 90 miles a night in Level 2 in something relatively efficient isn’t a problem…but I am assuming somebody with $7k negative equity on a 2018 Jeep has the ability to charge at home. If they can charge at work it’s NBD.

OP, do you have huge payments or a ton of time left on the loan? You will be paying g an absolute shit ton of tax and interest on your negative equity if you put it into a lease.

If you want absolute rock bottom you could try a 500e or VinFast VF8.

Math is not matching. If you’re driving more than 15k miles you pay a penalty at the end.

Stop digging a hole and either factor that into your costs or buy a Toyota Prius or Corolla hybrid and let that be the end all be all

Nissan’s excess mileage fees are the cheapest if you decide to lease.

Check Marketplace for Ariya pricing

Fair enough, I see my 15k lease is too low and I would most likely go over. I am not trying to get a new fancy car or anything, I just bought at the wrong time when prices were high. I can continue to pay and just deal with it, the gas is just killing me. I have looked at just buying super fuel efficient trade and going that route, and it sounds like it may be the best option instead of a lease.

I approve this message.

If someone has the time it’s worth running the numbers comparing a

Used EV with $4,000 tax credit plus any local subsidies

Vs

The aforementioned hybrids

Maintenance costs (oil changes etc) and gas prices can make this less of a slam dunk than one might assume, especially with high miles
