Those $1200 things are kinda garbage quality. You’re paying for the logo not the quality. And it makes sense since theyr’e not really ski gear, they’re LOOK AT ME gear that happens to be worn on a ski trip. As far as ski gear goes, the good quality is the boring looking stuff. It’s snot cheap but it doesn’t advertize itself how expensive it is either. Unless you know, you don’t know.
I agree age has something to do with it as well. But even the 25 year old version of us wouldn’t have dreamt of wasting money on a Gucci cheaply made jacket like that. And everything you buy is in style somewhat, cheap or expensive. There’s a certain cut, color scheme, etc that comes and goes. That was the genesis of my story. And the point was buy good quality things that are worth the money, don’t buy expensive junk for the logo. Lower/Middle classes tend to do the latter, upper middle tend to do the former.
But a surplus in South America may not do much to change the price of the avocados at my farmer’s market where the local-ish vendors are supposed to grow their own produce!!!
So random that there was a surplus. Wonder what the cause was…
I think it was in Australia. It’s a very profitable product hence the high costs. But the trees do take a long time to grow so a huge surplus is very odd bc it’s not like you can just convert farm land and start growing then in a season.
Could be people are buying less due to the high costs…kids can’t afford the $18 toast
