Audi California leasing to out of state residents?

I commented in the bottom of this thread but thought I would make my own

I got numbers from a few Audi dealers in California, but they said I would need an address in California to complete the deal. Does anyone know if this is true or is this more around the painful registration in Washington?

Do any Audi dealers in CA lease to WA?

The more north they are in CA, the more likely they are to deal with WA residents.

PS a shell LLC with no legitimate business sounds very dubious to me but IANAA

They probably just don’t wanna deal with out-of-state registrations, to be honest.

A lot can happen, and a handful of bad surveys can penalize the store in a huge way if they’re not prepared to deal with the potential issues.

Directed towards me :rofl::rofl:

I have my legit business running for 15 years under it. I also stated you CANT just buy a car next day. Need time to pass and paperwork

I didn’t say your business was illegitimate; IDK anything about it. But if the OP opened an LLC for no other purpose that would be dubious.

Ahhh ok lol. My bad

Also, I dunno HOW true this is but a CA dealer told me once that you have to pay CA taxes if you plan on registering in CA or taking delivery in CA. Basically you will be double taxed in CA and WA. I dunno how much truth that is but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Which kind of a make sense if you register in CA and flip it to WA. WA might see it as you didn’t pay taxes. So either way, cheaper to just ship a car from east coast

People have shipped out of CA too, and they don’t owe CA tax.

Yeah agreed. Doesn’t help OP either way to strike deal with dealer to do business in CA

You have to pay CA sales tax on the first payment. The rest of the sales tax is dealt with according to your home state.

You get a temp tag that’s good for one day only in California, and another that’s valid only outside the state for 30 days.

At least that’s how it worked when I was kicking around ideas a couple of cars ago.

Ahhh ok. I knew it was some odd tax thing CA does. Dealer warned me about it cause I wanted to get my car wrapped by a buddy in CA but they said if I take delivery of car in person, I have to pay partial CA tax.

My sister store in Costa Mesa does out of state deals . So does Audi Fremont

Good luck getting Fremont to get you a “Sam” deal. They are good store, just not Audi BH
