I just returned a lease with Ally and the inspection was completed by AIM. There was a minor door ding that seemed like normal wear to me. However, the inspector said it would require 9 hours of work to repair. The vehicle was in perfect condition other than one small door ding. I don’t feel like these charges are reasonable.
The car has already been returned to the dealership. I have clear pictures and the picture where they showed the “damage” measures much larger than the actual visible damage.
Can you address the question: are damage charges negotiable? If so, how do you go about it?
I don’t think so. Not after the official inspection is done and you have no actual proof (i.e. a pic with your measurements). But you can try negotiating with Ally.
Instructions from Ally was to return to dealer and subsequent that an inspection would take place.
I don’t think there was additional damage. Just an exaggeration of the door ding damage and charges due to that. Door ding should have fallen under usual wear and tear but they are claiming it is much larger and the pictures of inspection don’t agree with their measurements.
There has been some criticism on this thread, but little advice in regards to the original question. I’ve shared the situation and a picture. Would appreciate some constructive advice…
I’m curious as well as I’ve never taken a lease to term. I believe I will be in a similar boat upon lease end with what I also consider to be mostly wear and tear.
