Are lease offers worse this year

I’ve been checking around to see what the lease deals are on an 2020 X4 for a close friend. The BMW dealerships I’ve checked so far seems to be a good $130 more per month than last year when I got my own X4 lease, anywhere from $630 for the base model to $700+. Even for a loaner the quotes are mid to high 600’s, which is way more than my lease.

Do you all think this because of covid or is this new normal likely to remain well into 2022? I was thinking maybe it’s just a temporary low inventory/covid situation. Are other car maker lease offers just as bad rn?

It really depends on a lot of factors, not just the discount, including MSRP. The MF is much lower than it was a year ago. Incentives are good, but residuals are down. The 2020 leases worse than a 2021 right now - lower residual and less incentives.

This is what I can do on a 2021, for instance, assuming loyalty and NYC taxes.

It’s been said a thousand times: No one has a crystal ball here. Your friend can take the best of any current deals or choose to wait. No one else can make that decision for them.
