No one wants to talk about automation and the future impacts it will have. Bc it’s very bleak but it’s the most important topic we should be addressing. The amount of jobs lost vs jobs created by AI is going to shock the world into a new age and many are going to be devastated. I don’t see a solution the math just doesn’t work. People need jobs and purpose. The only solution is a huge reduction in population, which is actually happening in many developed nations but not in the 3rd world.
Bingo. Between the “new” economy of the last 50 years and future tech even the near term is bleak. People are on the bleeding edge of being broke as it is and now everything appears to be subject to price increases.
Many Americans have too much month left at the end of their money to tolerate these changes.
Or how did a country, that we are supposedly supporting in its war, got on the list, but the agressor did not?
Same argument was being made for the internet. Yet it produced more jobs than were lost.
I disagree that people would lose jobs or purpose. However, since neither of us have a crystal ball, only time can tell who’s correct.
Most people of non-substantial means/incomes have been slinging 2-3 extra jobs on top of their full-time job while working from home without the knowledge of their full-time employer. This gets interesting soon…
US production is expensive, that’s why even US companies go across the border to produce.
If you think prices will not shoot up even for vehicles made in the US, I’ve got a bridge to sell you on American soil.
Competition will decline, prices will rise, demand will decline, jobs will be lost. It’s a negative feedback loop we’re entering.
Ironic that inflation started at the end of his first term and he’s hellbent on making sure to bring it back.
I agree, HUGE and SEISMIC change from AI coming in regards to automation and job replacement…with the ‘leaders’ this world has I will be shocked if anything close to today’s world is still here in 10 years…maybe even 5.
More feelings without facts
Not feelings, economic principles that have been proven for decades.
Your argument maybe would have merit if you just left out the last line. You know, considering inflation in January 2021 was 1.4% when he left office.
There will be jobs but the problem is they start requiring skills, talent, intellect.
Even the giant $400M chip making (EUV) machines needs an army of skill technicians. I can see factories with thousands of robots needing skilled techs to maintain them.

The problem is… unskilled non-trade jobs will pay even less. The gap between the haves and have-nots will widen.
Ya I strongly oppose progression of AI as it basically just leads to ruin for society IMO. The tech overlords who control AI will just use it to increase the wealth , rather than for the good of society as claimed. These are the same folks that bring us social media apps which are largely negative EV for society but immensely valuable from an advertising perspective.
If you can replace doctors and teachers, I’m not sure what anyone would do money wise. You only need so many people to fix the machines and at some point the machines prob fix themselves. Seems pretty dystopian or at minimum requiring my some kind of UBI. I think it’s very bleak and not endless paradise like the tech VC and PE folks like to proclaim. Hope that doesn’t happen in my lifetime.
He trying to get money back.. I would have thrown 45% tariff LOL. crazy how Vietnam is that high!
Did you get your Vinfast before the Viet tariffs kick in?
The people working from home are disproportionately middle class and upper class. Service workers cant work from home nor can blue collar workers. Those two job stories are mostly click bait. Just such a small part of the population has the ability to do that.
Actions over the past few months don’t seem to suggest we “support” that country, though.
Your better than this, you know why Russia, Iran and North Korea are not on the list.
#Fakenews
Before my Brooklyn friend comments, we don’t trade at all with those countries.
But this administration thinks these tariffs will bring in revenue, which in their eyes only leads to one reaction, tax cuts for the wealthy. So negotiating these tariffs out will erase the “hopeful” revenue they are dreaming about. But no one knows how a circus does things.
Oh that’s right. Because we trade with penguins instead…
It’s funny to see people trying to justify a clown.
