Any VacationHackrs?

Hyatt Regency Lisbon is very nice Cat 4. Around 400€ in the summer and can be booked with award nights.

I’ll put a note in my Lisbon file in case we go back. :+1:

I almost forgot…

We’re beginning the trip in Lisbon for two nights before departing on a 4 day structured tour.

The pick up point for the tour is at VIP Executive Entrecampos, so for simplicity we’re staying there upon arrival.

We had $77.41 in rewards in our hotels.com account, so I booked our rooms that way, paid the balance with a Capital One Venture card, and redeemed Capital One points from a sign-up bonus to cover the purchase.

Saw this old thread and couldn’t resist adding something: I’ve had great luck stacking credit card travel portals with off-season bookings. Sometimes the points value is weaker, but the cash prices drop so low that the combo still beats other deals. Also been using Google Flights’ price alerts for months-out trips to snag sudden dips. Anyone here tried pairing those alerts with hotel price tracking too?

Not the way I’d generally redeem but if you’re happy with the value, that’s what matters.

We ended up getting both $100 food credits (one per room), plus breakfasts were comped for booking through Amex.

The hotel restaurant was very good. We enjoyed everything we ate.

Not really a hack, but as a result of some bad luck…

We got stuck in Chicago overnight on the return due to crew staffing issues.

AA provided hotel rooms and meal vouchers, but the hotel we selected from the available choices didn’t have a shuttle as the description provided by AA indicated.

When I submitted the Uber receipts for reimbursement, they responded in a couple of hours with approval and gave us each 17,500 miles for the inconvenience.

This will reduce the effective cost of the trip by ~$250-$400 per person, depending on the ultimate redemption value.
