Fly Qatar and do Doha. Checkout stopover program from Qatar airways. You can get 5 star hotels for like $30 per night person and ur kid will be free. 3 days max is what you need for Doha. Its very less traffic, modern infrastructure and lot of cool places to explore. Peaceful compared to Dubai.
That’s crazy … 5 stars for $30?
Correction .. $24 per night per person. Check out the program details below. You have to fly Qatar airways though to avail the program but who wouldn’t want to fly the best airline in the world when travelling to that region.

My wife and I have been using this program since 2020 and its amazing. Its a great stopover option to relax a day or two before we continue our journeys. And by the way, the hotels in middle east are way better than over here. A 3 star Embassy Suites in Dubai was better than the Marquee Marriott at the Time Square (Even though that Marquee is still our fav place to stay in NY).
Dubai can get super hot during the summer, so some places might close. For example, Miracle Garden might not be open during the hottest months. I visited Dubai in May and went on the last day before summer arrived. I know the Fountain show near the Burj will be closing this month.
Here are some fun things to do in Dubai:
-
Dubai Frame
-
Dubai Museum
-
Burj Khalifa
-
Miracle Garden
-
Dubai Mall
-
Aura Skypool - Book in advance
-
Safari
-
Abu Dhabi
-
Atlantis Water Park
-
Lotus Yacht Tour/ Dubai Marina
-
The View Palm Jumeriah & Beach
Taxis with the red top are usually cheaper. I learned the hard way.

Two weeks passed quickly for me.
Have you been on Icon of the Sea? If so, what did you think? I’ve been wanting to go to Perfect Day At Coco Cay, but haven’t had the chance yet. I heard there’s a new ship coming soon, Star Of The Sea, this August.
I haven’t been on icon I don’t love the stops it makes as I’ve been to all them many times but I guess you go for the ship.
We were considering another cruise bc they’re so convenient but no good last minute deals that I found. 15 min uber from my door!
I’ll check this out. I was looking at emirates bc it was a direct flight but looking now qatar isn’t much more $ and has the stop in Doha. Good call if I don’t go now I’ll go in the winter when cooler. 100 degrees might not be the best time to go.
Pick a destination using Qatar as your connecting hub. As a standalone destination Doha has even less to offer than Dubai.
We were down in your neck of the woods last year right after that thing was first in service.
Enormous!
Keep an eye on Qatar Business rates as well. The best period.
But don’t shop direct to Doha will be mad expensive. Try to do SHJ (Sharjah is 20 miles from Dubai (Just like MIA and FLL). And you will get a connection from Doha. Take the 2 or 3 day stop over in Doha. Qatar will then fly you from DOH to SHJ First class on a 1 hr flight. The plane may not be the greatest but the service you get the minute you enter the airport is one of the sickest.
It’s crazy watching it leave from southpoint. It’s so massive. When it passes, if you’re on the beach, the wind gets crazy and umbrellas always fly away
Do a couple of days in Dubai, then stop by Oman for a couple of days.
Im doing something wrong but it wont let me search by increasinf number of travellers for the flight? Only for the hotel does it let you change the number of travellers
If you are talking about the room search, it will let you fit max of 3 in a room, not 4 people (even if you have kids). I sent them an email and they found me hotel choices that would allow 2 adults and 2 kids in a room. On 2 trips though, I had to do two adjoining rooms and the effective price was still worth it.
Sorry i meant when im searching flight’s and using Doha as a layover (3 nights for example), no option to change number of passengers for the flight. When i get to checkout, it only asks for 1 traveller. Trying to get it to 2, to reflect ticket price change
Sending u a dm.
Stopover option would cme if ur traveling from airport A and final destination is airport B (cant be Doha).
Since Qatar won’t take u direct to B from A (all flights have transit through DOH), you then can book the stopover programs stay
With the dollar crashing where should we be looking for vacations? Carribean, or is there anywhere further a field where it wont get more expensive?
Florida lol
