Any VacationHackrs?

Excited for JAL to finally get their new first class suite with doors this fall.

Do you have kids ? Traveling with kids and having a separate space for them and place to actually sit and relax has been a game changer for us, and mostly prefer it over hotwls

Yes I can quote entire episodes of Bluey.

You don’t want to take out your own trash, start the dishwasher, and toss your sheets into the washer?

Nothing better than Cava. Easily one of my favorite parts of NoVA (aside from Moby Dicks)

There’s been a lot of talk about this on the Churning subreddit and FT - lots of properties going up…some by quite a bit. I may do a speculative booking or two to lock something in but it’s tough with my kids’ school calendar not locked in for next school year.

Hijacking this thread for my upcoming Mexico City trip in late May :upside_down_face:. There will be three of us and we are going there for 7 days. Looking for our well-traveled hackrs’ wisdom on:

  1. Restaurants and accommodation (neighborhood/hotel/AirBnb) recommendations in Mexico City.
  2. Recommendation on tour/transportation to Teotihuacán.
  3. Other than Teotihuacán, are there places around Mexico City worth visiting? Or 7 days are just enough for Mexico City?

Many thanks!

@dukez Which airline was this? That’s a long legroom!

@mattevan Did JAL leave you a whole bottle of whisky to enjoy by yourself?

For me, 5 days were enough for Teotihuacán + Mexico City. However, I can see myself spending 7 days there.
Watching or rewatching the movie “Farida” before going there is nice. I loved visiting Farida’s home and Diego Rivera’s Museums and Galleries.
Other than that, there’s a lot to see in Mexico City and I’m sure you’ll have a great time. The architecture and buildings are stunning.

Out of curiosity, I checked a couple of Zoetrys around Cancun from the list for off-peak (early Dec) and they are already 52k while the redemption calendar shows 25k for the same dates.

Not only did they indeed do that, but it’s an amazing three-barrel blend run of Ichiro’s Malt limited to 300 bottles for JAL!

My mom took me to Mexico City for my birthday last year. I’m not going to be any help whatsoever as I didn’t plan any of it and don’t even remember the names of the places we went - I just remember it being beautiful and a great experience
