Nope. Most niche/enthusiast cars aren’t going to lease well. The only one off the top of my head that might not be awful would be the A-Spec Integra (not the Type S)
WRX is by far the manual with the most inventory. Many dealers with 10+ on the lot. Doesn’t necessarily mean it will lease well, but means you could find some motivated dealers. Subaru has 0.99% financing for 48 months on a purchase.
Great car, definitely a cash purchase over a lease. Without even looking at the programs, but knowing the limited production and price of the car, the payment would be +$1500/mo for a $75k car.
I am a huge manual fan and have probably owned about a third of the cars on this list, even if some were previous generations. They almost never lease well, but manual variants of enthusiast cars usually retain more than enough value at resale to make a purchase worth it.
I have always liked Honda manuals, from S2000s to the CTR. They have a great shifter action and make it fun to wind them out. I am also very fond of the recent domestic V8 cars with Tremecs. I had a Camaro SS 1LE and have driven a Mustang Dark Horse on the track and they were both fantastic. Very positive and they can handle a lot of power.
I currently have a Miata manual, which is also a favorite. Cars with manuals I have owned and did not love F80 M3 and E89 Z4 (typical rubbery BMW shifter), GR Corolla (too notchy, weird clutch), 992 C4S (just okay, nothing to write home about).
Learned on a beater corolla back in the day and then a 300z. Got lucky with the Camaro craze but only for a few months. Itching to get into another but on a budget (cuz LH ofcourse)
I guess follow up, which hurt the least on resale ?
Best lease value should be the Taco 6MT and base WRX, decent chance of having some equity at the lease end too. G80 M3 would probably be my pick for the most desirable and practical option though it doesn’t lease well so it is a finance-only option with strong value retention to boot.
