Outside of some of the black card “tests” for heavy platinum card users, this is one of the most impressive I’ve seen.

Can you only sign up for the amex sub bonuses once? So if you get gold, you cannot get the platinum?
Is this true ?
If you work your way up, you can get the gold bonus and then the platinum bonus. You cannot start with platinum and then try for the gold bonus generally speaking. Amex also views business cards differently than personal cards. You can collect a platinum bonus on the personal platinum as well as a welcome bonus on a business platinum.
Once per lifetime bonus on each unique card though with limited exception such as a massive lapse in time.

So instead of going after the personal platnium SUB 175k, better to go after lower cards first to get the SUB and work upwards?

My wife and I have been targeted by numerous Gold/Platinum Business upgrades over the last few years. The good thing about the targeted offers (typically popup when we log into our accounts) is they pro-rate the annual fee. So if you use the offer to upgrade a Green Business Rewards card where the account renewal date is 3 months away, you will only pay 3 months of the $695 annual fee, while you collect you spend to collect your SUB. Let the next year’s fee hit, then downgrade the card within 2 months to get some of nextx year’s fee back (trying to avoid any clawbacks or denial in the future).
Isn’t Amex renewal fee when upgrading due in full? They always prorate the fee of the previous card
Here is what has happened on our Amex business cards the last year+. April 2024, downgrade from Bus Plat to Green rewards. Pay the annual fee for the Bus Green rewards. Fast forward to Jan 2025, accept an upgrade offer back to the Bus Plat (spend $10k in 3 months, get 120k MR points). Amex refunds 3 months of Bus Green rewards membership fee (~$20) and charges me for 3 months of Bus Plat fee (~$150 - which covers the rest of the account year). In April 2025, the next year’s Bus Plat fee ($695) is charged. Let fee hit to try to steer clear of any clawback. Downgrade within 60 days to get a pro-rated refund.

# AMEX Platinum Saks Benefit Will End In June, But New Benefits Are Coming In July

Shortly before the end of 2025 I spent $54 (-$50) on three pairs of socks in a fishing motif, and gave them to my dad.
That is great news. It was always painful trying to find something to burn the credit on, even more true recently. Other than a nice chefs knife and some truffle oil, everything is overpriced garbage. The company is/was also quite terrible to work with.
I never had a problem using my Saks credit. The last 2 times I was able to buy cologne that was on sale and then get $50 off on top of that. I definitely will miss it, hopefully they replace it with something good.
I had 5 $50 Saks GCs accumulated….I still had a difficult time finding anything I wanted in the Beverly Hills stores.
Ended up getting some overpriced makeup and a candle for the ladies…they seemed happy!
