Currently our 2023 i7 lease is ending within the next month and since we aren’t able to preorder the refreshed 2027 i7 yet (they say in 3 months we can) and we are kind of in a pickle. Looking at purchasing an XM since there’s more tax incentives going that route but I wanted to turn to you guys for some help negotiating the final deal.
Basically the dealership is only offering the loyalty rebate on the vehicle and isn’t negotiating the actual MSRP on the car. I’ve read that on the 2025 they were dropping their pants to get those sold and wanted to know if there are any comps out there for the 2026 XM to use in the negotiation. Currently there’s a CPO 2026 XM with 4K miles available for $135k dealer car BUT they’re telling me it does not qualify for loyalty or incentives or the 4.99% interest as it’s not new which confuses me because it was never sold and according to BMWs website they can consider a dealer car new if it’s under 5.5K miles.
So basically the wall I’m running into either 15K in incentives (no discount off sticker) with 4.99% interest OR $135k CPO with whatever God-awful normal interest rate is available. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m in the DFW area if that helps
That is what I was confused about because the carfax on the advert doesn’t have any owner listed in the area where it usually shows “amount of owners”. Their sales team AI said an actual human will reach out to me tomorrow when I brought up the whole “You’re selling CPO for $135K but new with incentives is around $145K” lol
Buy an XM ?
Consult with @IAC and check if leasing would work out due to sales taxes.
Buying an XM would be the worst decision ever.
Why dont you extend your i7 lease ? Should be able to get 6 months easily with a build order in.
Also have you driven an XM ? The ride quality on both these cars is miles apart so make sure before u get an XM, you know what your getting into.
The 2027 i7 is not available for pre-order which is causing the difficulty. Reason we were weighing purchase vs lease is the Section 179 deduction. Also we drive a lot and we BARELY stayed within the allotted miles on the i7 15,000 miles per year (everything in Texas is a million miles away). Combine that with all the new XMs being Red Label, the depreciation isn’t too bad (currently selling at high 90k right now used). Basically tax incentives and residual vehicle value are more appealing than leasing and constantly worrying about mileage again.
Already test drove the XM and enjoyed it. Obviously swapping for an i7 2027 would be the preferable option but I’m never going back to Mercedes after the horror show that was their after-sales support and may as well take advantage of the loyalty discounts at BMW.
Just beware if you drive a lot of miles, tires will last only 6500 to 9k miles max on the XM. Knowing Texas roads your probably gonna be on the lower side. And the wheels are fragile as well so make sure to get tire n wheel insurance.
They are indeed amazing vehicles and I have yet to see another SUV handle like this. Good Luck !
Can’t be worse than the S550 tires that explode if you look at them funny. But thank you for the heads up. I always get the tire and wheel warranty (the i7 warranty came in clutch several times) especially because of the tech they’re putting in the actual wheels themselves with the regen braking systems.
Regarding other electric options, I think im done with electric in general. There’s no savings, no resell, and the instant speed feels so lifeless without the roar.
Yeah but the aura loss isn’t worth it. Im just wanting to see if anyone has a realistic comp I can try to argue them down from the sticker price. I’ve seen some great deals for 2025 on here but nothing for 20206
2026 production wasn’t quite what 2025 was, which wasn’t quite what 2024 production was.
Anecdotally it really is an either love it or hate it type of car and there are enough of these selling for full boat (yes, really!) that most dealers aren’t feeling the pressure to lose their ass on one to move it like in years past.
Lol everyone has their own personal opinion which is understandable. But you gotta really drive an XM to compare it to the X3M to see for yourself if your opinion is right or not.
@a.texan what about a CPO X7 M60i with low mileage to claim that section 179 and to handle your mileage situation ?
Another idea, lease an X7 M60i cause u qualify for the GKL as well. Lease it at 15k miles (total 45k allowance) ride 22k miles or so in a year and lease transfer out if it when you have 20k miles of allowance left on it.
If you hack the right unit, you would buy yourself enough time to order the new i7 then and get out of the X7 m60i in time.
Regardless or the new redesigned X7, deals are not gonna come any way on those for after a year or two.
Did you test drive it with a dealer who neved told you to switch to M1 or M2 ?
You gotta ride it on all gas with the electric motor as a supplement. Its not a prius. I had someone tell me they hated the new m5 cause it jerked like an ass everytime it switched from electric to gas turns out the sales person with him had no knowledge on how to run it in all gas mode lol.
