About how much commision do brokers charge?

Depends on the broker and depends on the vehicle.

On the deals they post here they post their fee. If you retain them to go work out a special deal it’ll be more than the usual of $399 or $499 deal that they post publicly.

if you look at the broker’s post in market place, they typically state their fee

It definitely depends on the market and the vehicle. From our/my experience, some of the more high-end buyers can be more demanding, need more “hand-holding,” etc., and there can be a lot of work that goes into deals that are not those that are posted.

We charge $300 for cars under $50,000, and for cars over $50,000, that plus 1% of the amount over $50,000. A $60,000 car is $400.

Honestly, we’ve also toyed with the idea of a retainer for when we’re asked for quotes, because there seem to be a lot of tire kickers now, and we’re putting in a lot of effort with nothing in return or buyers turning into ghosts. It can also put a strain on the relationship with the dealer. I know some brokers do charge a retainer, so OP should also keep that in mind.
