I was providing the red one as an example of the value of a low mileage 2023 M440ix convertible. Take that to the IL dealer on the grey one and say you think the adjusted cap-cost of the leasable/demo 2023 M440ix convertible should be 20% off MSRP.

After-NY-tax-Monthlies (with MSD) will be well below $700 if your cap-costs on the grey one are a 20% reduction off its MSRP.

I am telling you how NOT to get a deal done.

I mean your approach is fine for the 1980s but its 2024 GET WITH THE TIMES

lol thanks, I know the type!

Cars that were taken for a test drive a few times are not considered demos.

A specific test drive car that people drive all day is a demo.

A new car that one or two serious buyers may have driven is not a demo.

It’s been a few years, but I leased a $76K BMW from a store in CA 100% remotely and had a shipping company bring the car to me, and a $87K X5 from the same store and never spoke to anyone until after I got out of my Uber from the airport to pick it up.

He’s giving off troll-ish vibes.

There are a few brokers who can help you. They’ll be able to answer your questions, guide you and probably get you a better deal than you’ll get for yourself. And of course, they’ll be able to disclose whether the car in question was used as a demo or not.

Yeah I feel like 69gto wants to custom-order his car and take delivery without the showroom without them even doing a PDI. So he can be the one to pull the plastic bits off and make sure they don’t leave any microfiber towel swirls in the clearcoat.

At that point he’s not really deal hunting, but should expect to pay a bit more to get exactly what he wants.

I’d be down for that!

Gotcha. Thank you for clarifying.

I plan on test driving this week. Do I need to let the dealer make a copy of my license? I’d hate for them to do a credit pull without my permission. Especially this early in the hunt.

You don’t have to, but they also don’t have to let you drive a car either.

You’re not getting credit pull unless you fill an application.

I’m starting to get worried about you.
A hard credit pull is not possible unless you provide your social.

Most of them want a copy of your DL on file for insurance I think, I could be wrong tho.

Even when I test drive for fun at one of my partner dealers they usually take my DL, and they certainly know I’m not buying.

LMAO.

What about a soft credit pull?

Who cares about a soft pull when it has no impact on your credit? no dealer is going to do that for a test drive

You are giving your dealer way too much credit if you think they’re doing all that off a test drive in a excess inventory situation.
