328d Loaner quote - please critique

Working on a 328d loaner deal - this is where I’m at now. 3yr/15k.

2017 328d 4493 miles

MSRP 47,045
Discount: 6250
Sale price: 40795
customer cash: 1500
Rebates: 3000
Total cash and rebates: 4500
Total cap reduction: 3123.59
Residual: 26287.85
Advanced Payments: 502.63
Upfront charges: 873.78
Due on delivery: $1500.00
Monthly payment: 466.48+tax = 502.63

I know I need to negotiate price before rebates down a bit more - anyone have advice on what to target? Anything else that stands out?

Thank you.

Do you really need a diesel? I would look for at least 10k in discounts before rebate.

Not necessarily, but this is what the dealer has available as far as loaners go at the moment.

On a similar topic having you compared it to buying a used 2014 328d? Roughly cost the same other than maintenance and depreciation, I am in the market looking for it hence throwing another angle and helping myself as well as adding to your discussion. I am specifically looking at d since 60 miles work commute and better mileage.

With a BMW I don’t want to have to worry about maintenance costs, out of warranty repairs (especially emissions stuff on a diesel) , etc. So I think a lease would be a safer bet for me personally.

I’m thinking about asking to reduce the MF to the base rate and a $10,000 dealer discount. Does this sound reasonable?

Sounds reasonable with 10k discount before rebate. Let us know how it goes.

Where are you located? Diesel cars don’t do well in cold climates without taking special precautions.

California. No cold weather here

Huh? Modern diesels go just fine in the cold.

Being modern won’t help you when your fuel gels up during a cold snap.

Asked for a 10k dealer discount and base money factor and he shot back with only an additional $250 off. Oh well.

328d (Especially loaners/demos) Don’t make much room on them. If you can get a discount of $7,000 it’s actually a good deal. I’d offer you something from my inventory, but I’d probably only be able to do $5-$6,000 off…

That’s good to know on what they have to work with, I appreciate that. I don’t necessarily need a diesel (it was just out of convenience/what the local dealer had available). I suppose I may have better luck just waiting to find the right gas loaner.

Why not a 330e? You’ll be getting similar gas mileage as a diesel, greater discount, and tax credits. If you find a dealer that has one between 4000-4999 miles and low MSRP then you maybe be in luck with a great deal.

Michael,
I wanted to give you details of a 328d demo deal that I have right now for comparison purposes.

  • Sticker: $52K
  • Current Miles: <5K
  • Lease: $410 month, 36 Months, 10K Miles year
  • Out of pocket: Sales Tax + Bank fee $925, Doc fee $400, Registration $149 (Varies by state)

I thought this may help with your negotiations .

The 13.3% off you’re getting isn’t that bad as @Samson said as well. Yes it’s not the unicorn 18-20% you see now and then but those are very rare occurrences and they literally sell in a matter of minutes.

$10k off (or over 21%) isn’t realistic so you can take the advice of people that haven’t gotten that and ask for it, but you’ll be wasting time. And right now, every email you send that delays the commitment is another couple hours that a non-hacker customer could walk in and see a tremendous value at the current price.

I have a leftover brand new 2017 328d that’s around the same MSRP ($47,245) and I can get you down to $413 plus tax with 10k miles and only $1,500 out of pocket. Just email me at dave.townsend@bmwofmurrieta.com and I’ll be happy to breakdown the full details. Maybe we can put this one in your garage today.

I know we’re there is one 23% off but it’s in the east coast if you are interested its under 5k miles also
It’s pretty loaded also not a stripped model also x drive

Sounds like it could be an excellent deal, but feel free to pass than on to another hacker (if you wish). Think I’m going to take my time and look into a 330e or maybe a C300
