3 Row SUV Search

Ahh…yes…the 2004 was a real step forward at the time. Unfortunately, the newer versions didn’t keep up with the american SUV’s. Granted…today, all SUVs have some sort of issue or design flaw. There is a compromise in every one.

The Disco already looks pedestrian, at best.

The novelty factor wearing off is a risk you’re going to have to take with anything you buy. That’s not really something you can mitigate; in other words you may as well stop worrying about it.

We sat in a Navigator as well and she liked it. So that’s a possibility.

Not seeing any CPO Escalades in the 70s though

In America we complain about dated design and poor gas mileage but that doesn’t bother people around the world. This is still sold as new in UAE

Yeah I doubt there is one lol. I don’t know what is going on but I get the feeling the highlander (and thus a TX) is probably insufficient for some reason. I mean by all means check out the TX with your wife and see how it goes. That’ll be a great car even if new instead of CPO.

Anyway regarding what @max_g is saying, just get the car your wife really wants lol. If a Disco is what she wants go hunt one down. These “% resid over 8 years yadda yadda” isn’t worth the stress lol. But for real, women seem to just want bigger cars now-a-days. Everyone I know with a GLE says they hate the car because it’s too small. And a GLE is the same general size as a Lexus TX hah. And the X7 has a pretty tiny cargo area even if it seats 3 rows.

Maybe a CPO GLS or something could be an alternative?

I’m likely purchasing a Lexus TX this week…. I don’t see how anyone could say it’s small (unless your current daily driver is a bus)

I’ve always avoided LandRover because of the stigma around maintenance.

When I google the Discovery it’s ranked one of the least reliable. But these rankings can misleading if the results are just a margin error between each model.

Anyone hear about these rigs?

I think it’s the best deal in luxury midsize TBH. We had a Highlander for 30 months and it was such a smooth drive, decent on gas, and never threw a single error code. Wish I could convince my wife on the looks.

30 months with a grand Highlander I thought they just released. How is the road noise in the Highlander, in the Camry the road noise is so loud especially on the highway.

I’ll tell you what I tell my other married friends who have one half of the couple afflicted with the JLR bug: as long as the spouse wanting the LR is the one willing to wait for the tow and become best friends with the service manager, go for it.

Sorry. It was a Highlander Platinum. Road noise was dampened well. I think in the Platinum they mitigate it more.

The TX compares with a Mercedes GLE (in terms of starting MSRP and size)… although I think the GLE is wider and has to be optioned with that 3rd row.

But there’s a reason a GLS, X7, LX, and other big-azz vehicles exist. Once some people realize there is a bigger car out there and all the better feelings that bigger car gives, they really really really want that bigger car.

What are you smoking? The TX has more interior room than the X7 and GLS… exterior length is within an inch or two

We haven’t tested a GLE but it’s on our radar as well.

I’m hearing BMW holds up better than MB though

2024 TX definitely does not have more interior room and cargo room than a GLS. Edit: it’s not always about length man. Width, hiproom, etc all matter.

Yeah I hope you can find a good CPO X7. I think that’ll suit what you and your wife seem to want. But also go check out a 2024 TX. It’s a nice car and starts at an attractive MSRP for the segment.

people as well…

I prefer the BMW exterior but here’s a comparison. Not many people compare Lexus to the Germans since Lexus only offers reliability. For the look the X7 looks more fancy I’ve seen multiple X7 and GLS down here in Florida

Agree on the x7 beating the GLS. The MB has an old person vibe compared to the sport luxury of the X7

We don’t necessarily need the room of the X7 either. So that’s why I’m considering the GLE now since wife is okay with that size if it has 3rd row for rare occasions

Why not the Q7/SQ7, I believed @IAC_Scott had one that was crazy discounted
