24 Volvo xc90 lease ending...what now?

Hello,

I currently lease a 2024 xc90 t8 with 12k miles on it. My lease is up November 2026 and I only have 3k miles left on my 24 month 7500 mile lease. My commute became longer hence the extra mileage.

I’m debating pulling ahead in May but you don’t generally see lease deals for Volvo around that time. My other consideration is to finish out the lease and buy the car. It’s fully loaded and I was able to lease the car when they were giving them away at the end of 2024.

I know my payments will go up. I’ve leased many cars and have never bought one out so this is foreign to me. It’s my favorite car I’ve had so I wouldn’t be opposed to buying it but not sure that makes the most financial sense. My current buyout is 66k. Sticker was 90k. I am having trouble searching for this car with the packages it has to find out how much they are selling for.

Are there any deals on the EX90 floating around? I’d like to stay in the $500/m range while putting only necessary fees down. I could also get another xc90 but I haven’t see any deals on the t8’s lately.

is buying out this car a bad idea? Do I just pay the over-mileage next fall? Or should I wait and see? What would you do?

If the lease deal was good, in part, b/c of a high RV then buying out it would not be a great idea (unless you don’t mind the actual value being less than what what you paid).

Even if you can’t find your exact spec, modern Volvos aren’t known for strong resale value, and they also aren’t known for making particularly reliable cars.

Buyouy is a no-no. My lease end price is $62k and best offer for a trade is $38k. If you dont need as large of a car I’d maybe look at xc60 t8 instead and do a pull ahead on that with larger mileage allowance.

Get a Costco membership now if you don’t have one. There are often Costco Volvo deals in May.

I’m in the same boat. Negative equity in the car and will be going over miles with another 7 months left. Check how much equity you have in the car if any. Seems like Volvo does not retain any value and buy out isn’t a great option.

Even if all of you are making 1000 mile per month more than allowed, it will cost you $250/m plus tax.

I would keep the car until Novemeber and/or revisit the options in April/May when Costco rebate may arrive.

Bro you’re giving me anxiety lol. My lease is due in December and although I’m under mileage, I know I won’t be getting another full size SUV for under $400. Too good of a deal to be replicated again
